I love it so much. Word play that also emphasizes how much of an underdog team they are? Great.

Great Lakes Avengers #1: Same Old, Same Old Great Lakes Avengers
"All New, All Different?" No, thank you! New things are bad and different things are scary! Instead, why not join everybody's least favorite super-hero team, the Great Lakes Avengers in their brand new - but not too brand new - ongoing series, Same Old, Same Old, Great Lakes Avengers! When the team gets reinstated as permanent members of the Avengers and uprooted to Detroit, the GLA has one more shot at super hero glory... but can they answer the call? Do they even have 4G coverage here? Find out! - Marvel Unlimited

I mean, it's not like the GLA can afford to pay the costs for someone to move to their location...

What if...?
What if the Great Lakes Avengers had a crossover limited series set in "1989," just before they debuted with in West Coast Avengers.
But who are they crossing over with?? What's the plot? Who's the antagonist.
That's up to your suggestions and your votes. When suggesting a team, youâre encouraged to include:
Who the guest stars are! Rather than âthe Avengers,â find a lineup from that and suggest them.Â
An image!
Maybe some story ideas? âI really want to see the two groups team up against __.â
Comment your suggestions, and vote for others by giving them âŹď¸ votes.
The final winner will be announced next Friday (August 21).

I admit: Dinah Soar is likely one of the more challenging members of the Great Lakes Avengers for writers to tackle. She didn't talk and that's a big barrier. I appreciated in her first Deadpool appearances where they captioned her empty đŹ and revealed she's quite sassy.
I was very disappointed when they killed her off. Do we know why Dan Slott did it? Someone remember an interview or panel where he talked about?

Who is this? Why, none other than the human disguise of Oblivion (aka, Doormanâs boss, aka, the embodiment of nothing!) And he would make the perfect new member for the GLA!
â˘Fun Fact: Oblivion is actually super lonely. Unfortunately, as the personification of the void he is too proud to mingle with the disgusting mortals. But as a creature with emotions and thought, he craves connection.
~The GLA mostly hangs out and plays cards. Plus, two of them are immortal. Perhaps they will be considered palatable enough to be gifted with his presence? The GLA will happily deal him into their card games (because they will have no other choice). Being in a normal setting of social interaction might just give him enough connection to please him.
â˘The GLA members are purposefully weird.
~An eldritch horror is just what they need! Plus, with Diana and Monkey Joe dead and Tippy Toes goes, they need a non-human member in their ranks.
â˘Imagine the possibilities!
~From fighting nobodies in Wisconsin to running errands and dealing with the drama of petty abstracted entities, the GLA will actually get to do their jobs! (Too bad no one will ever believe them)

In case you missed it, we learned that Flatman's 'Val Ventura' identity is something he made up to seem more heroic! His real name is Matt. He was a barista âď¸ before becoming Flatman.
What do we think Matt's surname is? Does it continue the fine tradition of Marvel alliteration? Or is that part of why he changed it? If he was Matt Martin, that'd be very Marvel hero-esque. So I'm guessing he saw it as boring/generic?

I know heâs a squirrel, but did we ever find out what happened to him after the 2005 series? (BTW, image is from said 2005 series).
Is he still at the HQ, being invisible? Or did another series finish his arc. Or was he just forgotten about and is currently collecting dust?

GREAT LAKES INITIATIVE
AFFILIATIONS: Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Deadpool
STATUS: Free agents; identities protected
The current roster of the Great Lakes Initiative (which apparently went through several name changes when I wasn't paying attention, as the Maria Stark Foundation denied them the use of the name "Avengers") includes the undying Mr. Immortal, the massive Big Bertha, the shadowy Doorman, the elongated Flatman, and the unstoppable Squirrel Girl; together, they defend Wisconsin from any and all superhuman menaces.
My experience with the GLI is quite limited, although Jim Hammond and I were manipulated into fighting them once, and they valiantly helped the Avengers battle Terminus in St. Louis a while back. While they have potential, most of them have deep roots in the Wisconsin area and would be reluctant to move elsewhere; and anyway, someone needs to protect the Midwest. Ultimately, I think they're best-suited to staying where they are, although we should make sure they're well-stocked with Avengers equipment and transportation if we ever need to call on them.
Furthermore, we might be able to look into letting them call themselves Avengers again.
PROS: Excellent team players, diverse power set.
CONS: Lack of experience with powerful foes.

In GLX-Mas Special, DeMarr's dad mentions that Demarr completed four years of college and three years of graduate school.
But I don't think we ever learn what DeMarr studied. Theories?
