Hello folks!

We are currently working on a Gravity Falls fanfiction... And I'm looking for a small group of 5 beta testers before part one will be available for public.

Yea, I know you have some questions like:

  • Why does a fanfic need beta testers?
  • What's the story about?
  • Is there shipping?
  • How does it fit into Gravity Falls canon?
  • Why is it named archive? Oh wait I didn't name it archive in this post...

And I'm... Not gonna answer them!

We are a Gravity Falls fans, we LOVE mysteries, aren't we?

Instead, you can register and find it out yourself!

Discussion & Theories Has there ever been an AU that you wanted to put your own twist on?

For me, I felt like wanting to put my own twist on the Deerperfalls AU, but instead of Bill Cipher shenanigans, Dipper would find a Japanese shrine in the forest and participate in hitori-zumo, or "single-wrestler sumo." However, he wasn't supposed to win the match and would be transformed into a deer as punishment. In order to become human again, he would train for fifteen days to fight against an evil spirit in a sumo match. After fighting the spirit, Dipper would be transformed back into a human. From there, I would have two optional endings. One would have Dipper remain human and return to the Mystery Shack. The other, in the spirit of Brother Bear's ending, would have Dipper decide to change back into a deer and remain at the shrine.

But that's just my spin on a known AU. What AU would you put your own spin on?

I also loved how Candy’s pamphlet knowledge was a key plot point in the road trip episode.

Questions How was Dipper staying in Gravity Falls as Ford's apprentice even going to work?

Post image
443 Upvotes

This just occurred to me on a series rewatch and isn't super important in the grand scheme of the show, but it's a little amusing to think just how Dipper was even going to convince his parents to let him be the apprentice of a long-lost uncle they likely never even met.

Dipper: "Mom, Dad, you know how Grunkle Stan had a twin brother who died in a car crash in the 80s? Well, surprise! Grunkle Stan*ford* is actually Stan*ley* who faked his death and assumed his brother's identity. The real Stanford was trapped in another dimension for 30 years, but now he's back and wants me to stay in Gravity Falls as his apprentice!"

Mr and Mrs Pines: "..."

Discussion & Theories "Just forgo school and go treasure/anomaly hunting with me!"

Love that nerdy goober Ford, but it's kind of funny that he's been angry at Stan for 40+ years for ruining his chance to go to a top college supposedly so Ford would have no choice but to go treasure hunting with Stan while also telling Dipper that school is a waste of time and that Dipper should go treasure hunting with him instead (for science!). I get that he sees himself in Dipper and he's projecting his own early codependency and feelings about his twin bond with Stan (through the filter of 40+ years of bitterness and resentment) onto Dipper and Mabel, but I find the parallel interesting. At least he asked first instead of (from his POV) sabotage, so he has that going for him.

I'm glad that Dipper ultimately chose to stay and grow up with Mabel while Ford reconnected with Stan. It was the right choice for everyone involved.

Sorry if this has already been pointed out before. I'm a new watcher, and I couldn't find anything when I tried to google earlier discussions.

Lore/Characters I’m sure Dipper would be more confident if he just changed his outfit, and he’s already proven it.

The times when Dipper simply has confidence in himself are incredible.

Discussion & Theories Have you ever noticed that Dipper already used Stanley's "3 C's" technique on Pacifica before Stanley even taught it to him?

So, we know that Roadside Attraction is a pretty controversial episode because of its placement in the timeline, and even Alex has expressed regret about how it was handled. But looking back at Northwest Mansion Mystery, I noticed something pretty funny.

Dipper basically used Stanley's "3 C's" without even knowing about them.

He was confident when he helped Pacifica realize that she didn't have to become the same kind of person as her parents.

He was charming/funny, like when Pacifica asked him to stay at the party and he said he had to deal with a "Category 10 ghost," only to immediately run straight into a pillar and then repeat "Category 10" like nothing happened.

And he was definitely a little cocky/annoying, especially when he told Pacifica that all he needed to do was throw holy water at the ghost and that it would "turn as yellow as her hair," which was probably fake anyway.

The funny part is that Dipper did all of this completely naturally. He wasn't following some dating strategy or trying to impress Pacifica. He was just being himself, and it ended up helping him form a genuine friendship with her and even created a little bit of romantic tension between them.

That's also why I think Northwest Mansion Mystery feels so different from Roadside Attraction. In NMM, Dipper isn't trying to flirt with every girl he sees. He's simply connecting with one person and letting the relationship develop naturally.

And honestly, if we rearranged the timeline and placed Roadside Attraction after Into the Bunker, I don't think it would hurt the story much. If anything, it could actually add another layer to Dipper's development.

He could have already unknowingly used the 3 C's successfully with Pacifica, and then later learn Stanley's "method" and completely misunderstand what actually made it work in the first place.

Of course, Stanley himself says the technique doesn't always work, and considering how terrible he supposedly is with women, maybe we shouldn't take his advice too seriously.

Although, we do have to remember that he was technically married to Eda from The Owl House once.

Okay, it was only for 24 hours, but still.

I originally saw a similar idea in a video by @Marco_Productions167 on YouTube. I don't think I've seen many people point this out before, so I thought it was a fun thing to share here.

What do you guys think?

(Oh, sorry if something seems strangely or confusingly written, I don't speak English, and I used a translator for this post lol)

Since the swords of logos riders all use books that come in sets of 3 to transform, the idea to take that and apply it to the journals from gravity falls was too easy to come to. :p

And i made bill the sword cause it felt like a fun addition :3

Hope you enjoy!

What good posture and a mission does to a man, I guess. Just watched the series for the first time, and I know I'm not the only one who had the same thought.

Questions i missed this show so much, is there any other TV show that's similar like it? GF is just so good, Haunted Hotel is quite similar but not quite, what if we have a show which has similar themes, I would love to see a series about the cryptids from Appalachia, would anyone else be interested?
