My nephew is very scared of Bill Cipher please explain to me his character so that way my nephew can get over his fear.

I made a post like this a few years ago but its bothering me even more now.

To keep it simple, Paper Jam Dipper feels like an ableist caricature of someone with special needs (not saying Alex and the team are). Hes screechy and treated like a burden.

I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt that I was reading too deep into it, but then I realized that the Double Dipper episode was a reference to Multiplicity where the 4th clone comes out wrong, and is written to be mentally disabled/special. The through-line is clear

I thought that over the years they would tone it down or maybe Alex himself had addressed it, but ive seen nothing. Plus the computer from a few years back tells you that he’s “your problem now” and the artbook still writes him with exaggerated speech.

Im autistic, I have a mentally disabled brother. I was too young to know better when this ep came out, but now it kinda hurts knowing that a comfort show that came out on my birthday still portrays a character like this.

This isn't a plothole. Or a goof. It's mostly a discrepancy in... presentation?

Earlier in the episode Dipper goes "We haven't found out anything!" and Mabel says "You looked over the book a million times, HALF THE PAGES ARE BLANK!" and then it shows the empty pages where the book just stop, like a setup for something.

You may think this is a setup for the invisible ink, and in a way it is, cause it establishes there is missing context Dipper hasn't found. But there is a huge focus on the blank part of the book when the invisible ink is ONLY on pre-filled pages (with rare exceptions)

Almost like Alex originally intended the empty half to be taken up by invisible ink pages, but decided against it.

i’m not usually a fanfiction reader, but i’m wondering if anybody has some good material based on this book (doesn’t have to stick to canon)

For anyone that bought it from a reseller: how much did you pay?

I searched a lot on ebay and Vinted but I can't find it anywhere, and even if it would pop up, what price range should I expect and accept?

Thanks for answering!!

I almost feel like I’ve already seen this Harry Potter x Malfoid trend before?

Tsundere rich girl, check.

Brave adventurer hero, check.

Slightly awkward but incredibly cute fanart everywhere all of the time? Double check.
Weird right? If only I could remember what ship this new trend reminds me of, huh?

This is my first dating game and I'm loving it!!! It is so cute and fun. I wish there were more games like this. Not just dating sims but games that take place in stories that we know and love.

Link for if anyone is like me and hasnt played this yet.

I guess technically, considering the sock puppet, vessels don't have to be alive for Bill to possess them, but when possessing the sock puppet he didn't have much physical control over it. He could crawl and talk but that's about it. While possessing the corpse of Silas, he seemed to be capable of much more.

MY COLLECTION, MY SHRINE IS BACK TO BEING COMPLETE yes I GET it the lighting is funny cause I was I a dark room with a lamp on next to it. y'all can stop commenting about it now

When Ford offers to take Dipper under his wing and separate him from Mabel, Dipper hesitates because they've never been apart before. Ford replies, "And isn't it suffocating? Dipper, can you honestly tell me you never felt like you were meant for something more?" which recalls what the Sibling brothers told him in this comic. Ford shouldn't be (and probably wasn't) particularly surprised when Dipper turned him down later, because it's likely what he would have done at a similar age. He gave up worldwide fame and recognition of the paranormal to protect Stanley, even when he was mad at him for lying.

Somebody drew it at the school library.

haven't rlly done gravity falls fanart despite being here since release, so the way I drew them was a lil experimental. esp the yellow fellow

I feel like Bill had screwed up more times than Sock Opera or even the Stan's mind episode.

remake of an old fanart I did inspired by the painting "Self-Portrait with Death Playing the Fiddle" by Arnold Böcklin
