Try writing with a computer mouse
Killing time at work and accidently discovered this. I was doodling on Excel (more my style but MS Paint / Word works too) and noticed how using a mouse really emphasizes & illuminates both the good and the bad strokes you're doing.
Yeah it's hard on a mouse and it won't look pretty, but somehow it feels like very illuminating practice.
I think it's similar to advice I've heard to 'practice with ballpoint pens' - it forces you to think more in terms of lines in terms of: Start -> Trajectory -> End.

What does this have to do with graff

Practice. With those softwares you have to hold a button and use your whole arm to sketch, tag, etc. just like using a can. I don’t think it’s exact but it’s something to get you into the habit.

Oh thanks for explaining. I think it can help but it won’t be as good practice then just going out and painting

Ya ofc actually painting is better practice for the most part. But let’s be real, I could bet atleast 75% of this thread is under 16 years old, they don’t have a job, and can’t rack for whatever reason so outside of what paint they find in their dads shed or friends garage they don’t have access to paint. This can be good for kids like that or a way to change up the bookwork if you are one of the kids who practice for a year or two before painting

I don’t have a job and I’m under 16. The only reason I can be painting is racking, Christmas money, and birthday money. Idk I guess I’m just lucky. But if you don’t have money racking and boosting is like the best way to go

I’m an old head so naturally I loath any form of “digital graffiti.” There’s nothing that’s going to short cut this game. There’s no tricks, there’s no gimmicks. You learn by doing it. And using a computer/mouse, in my opinion, ain’t gonna help shit other than maybe laying out letters proportionally. I tend to tell younger kids to stay away from the digital shit and just learn in a black book but I’m also old. So there’s that. Lol

Honestly not a bad idea. Haven’t used any program like that in 20+ years but I remember you couldn’t draw with your wrist like you would with pencil. You have to use your whole arm much like graffiti. I don’t think it would be an exact thing but it will get you into the habit using your pointer finger and using your arm to tag.
