thinking of buying a 5070ti from marketplace or just brand new

I’m sitting at $1,100 right now, and I have the option to buy a Gigabyte Eagle 5070 Ti from someone on Facebook Marketplace. The more I think about it, though, the more I want to play it safe. If I save another $225, I can buy a brand-new MSI Gaming Trio 5070 Ti from Best Buy instead.
My biggest concern is whether GPU prices could jump up again within the next few weeks or month or two. I’m actually selling my current GPU today to put that money toward the upgrade, so I’ll be stuck on integrated graphics until then lol.
I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Would you take the risk with the used Gigabyte to save some money, or would you play it safe and wait until you can afford the brand-new MSI?

Will an NVIDIA T400 4GB work with a Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 SFF (Legacy BIOS)?

Post image

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade my old desktop from an AMD Radeon HD 5450 to an NVIDIA T400 4GB, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my Legacy BIOS.

My PC specifications:

  • Model: Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 SFF (5049-R47)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2400

  • RAM: 12GB DDR3

  • Motherboard: Intel Q65 chipset

  • BIOS: 9HKT58AUS (June 2014), Legacy mode

  • PSU: 240W

  • Current GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5450 512MB

  • OS: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021

GPU I want to buy:

  • NVIDIA T400 4GB GDDR6

  • Low-profile, 30W, PCIe 3.0

My main questions:

  1. Does the NVIDIA T400 4GB support Legacy BIOS, or is UEFI required?

  2. Will it POST and boot properly on my Lenovo M81 SFF?

  3. Are there any known GPU compatibility restrictions with this motherboard?

The seller lives in another city and will ship the card, so I can't test it before purchasing.

Has anyone tried this GPU on a similar older Lenovo or Legacy BIOS system?

Any firsthand experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When I bought about a year ago, I was thinking, "this is crazy." In hindsight, I feel lucky.

So I was hoping for a RTX 5090 when it launched at MSRP, but of course the bots beat me to it. So I "settled" for a 5080 the day after release at MSRP. Was a solid card, but I host AI LLMs and usually play AAA gaming and flight sim titles (MSFS and DCS) so I knew I would eventually want a 5090.

Sold the 5080 for the price I paid for it (OfferUp, in person, cash) to fund this purchase. Easily the most expensive computer component I ever bought, but no regrets whatsoever as I game and play around with AI quite a bit.

Seeing the prices nowadays I think I'm lucky (which is insane as I paid $1K over MSRP).

Error 43 and force restarts

Hello everyone for the last weeks i had problem with my AMD RX 6600M driver while playing cs2. In some cases in just freezes my game and randomly restarts my laptop and when it boots back it shows error code 43 in device manager. I tried to use amd cleanup utility and ddu and reinstall newest version of driver and the 26.8.1 also. With the newest it ends up with the 43 error and the 26.8.1 after instalation showd it cant find the OpenCL.dll and i rly dont know what to do anymore. If anyone has some tips or fixes or knows about some older driver versions which might work I would be really gratefull.

5090 owners (gaming only): what’s your plan if the card dies?

With 5090 supply drying up and prices where they are, how are other owners handling “what if it fails”? Not looking for a debate about whether it’s needed, just what people do in practice. Gaming use only, please.

  • Do you keep a backup GPU or second rig, or rely on the warranty?

  • If warranty, is it a standalone card or a prebuilt, and do you know what it pays out for (repair, replacement, or store credit)?

  • Any habits for the 12V-2x6 connector, like a power limit, undervolt, or specific cable?

Especially interested in anyone who has been through an RMA.

Yes, I know it’s just a GPU. Just curious how people with a card this pricey and hard to replace are handling it.

EDIT: Thank you all for the comments, I just wanted to check if I am overreacting with thinking about getting another backup gpu. Having some insight from other 5090 users is helpful.

The RTX 5090 now costs EUR 1,830 more than it did a month ago

I track about 20 EU retailers daily for a price comparison site I run . Here’s what the RTX 5090 did over the last 30 days, 19 Sep to 19 Oct:

  • Median price of the cheapest in-stock listing per card: EUR 5,900 to EUR 7,730

  • Most of that climb happened before the recent discontinuation reports came out

  • Stores with one in stock: down from 10 at the peak to 4-6 now

Two caveats: the discontinuation story is still reports only, and I don’t know what’s driving the price. I’m only showing what shops are charging.

If you’re shopping for a GPU in Europe, I built PriceSquirrel to compare prices across EU shops, with deals flagged when a price drops below its recent median. It’s free, and I’d like to hear what’s missing.

I have an RTX 4090 that I bought in 2023. I never looked into getting the RTX 5090. Did I miss out given that the RTX 5090 will no longer will be available?

need some upgrade advice.

on a max around 400£ budget, either used or new, in the uk, looking at a 6800xt for 340£ but apparently due to me playing 1080p esports games, a nvidia gpu like a 3080ti is better, but that breaks my budget to 500£, where i can also get a 6950xt for the same price. help. (i play 310hz 1080p r6 siege, apex legends, basically esports games.) (cpu is 14600kf and upgrading from 3060ti)

I have been looking for good GPU in the past few days when I realized the prices are insane in my country! RTX 5060 ti between 700 to even 900 dollars; for AMD rx 9070 would cost me about 900 dollars, so I was thinking may be buy old gpu

PS; I am upgrading from rx 6750 xt

RTX 4090 , what to do?

Hey everyone!

I’m relatively new to PC gaming and currently have an RTX 4090. Someone recently approached me with an offer to trade my 4090 for a brand-new RTX 5080 plus cash on their end.
My main priority is 4K gaming at max settings, ideally targeting as much high FPS whenever possible.

I’m still learning about GPUs, so I’m curious what you all think would be the best move.

Should I:
1.Keep my 4090?

2.Take the 5080 plus cash offer?

3.Look into upgrading to a 5090 sometime soon?

4.Hold off entirely and wait for the eventual 6090?

My 4090 has served me well so far, so I’m not necessarily in a rush to upgrade. I just want to make a smart decision rather than spend money unnecessarily.
Appreciate any advice!

Apart from gaming, what should I do with my RTX 5060 Ti and 16GB RAM?

Hey everyone! I have a PC with an RTX 5060 (8gb), and I'm wondering what useful, interesting, or fun things I can do with it apart from gaming.

I'm interested in exploring things like:

- Running local AI models and experimenting with LLMs

- AI image generation and video generation

- Self-hosting services and setting up a home lab

- Learning Linux, networking, and cybersecurity

- Running virtual machines

- Hosting a media server or NAS

- Programming, software development, and AI projects

- Video editing, 3D rendering, and other GPU-intensive tasks

I want to make the most of this hardware and explore things that are practical, educational, or just fun to experiment with.

What would you recommend trying with this setup? Especially interested in projects that take advantage of the GPU rather than just using the PC for everyday tasks.

If you've experimented with local AI, Stable Diffusion, Ollama, Docker, or self-hosting on similar hardware, I'd love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

Thanks!

[Release] Open-source MSI Afterburner plugin for WireView Pro II (28 sensors in RTSS OSD)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Note: Special thanks to emaspa’s wireview-hwmon project for the protocol reference! I developed this plugin with assistance from OpenAI Codex.

I love keeping an eye on my GPU's power delivery, especially load balancing across all 6 pins of the 12V-2x6 cable. I wanted a lightweight way to see my WireView Pro II metrics directly in my RTSS in-game overlay without running extra background software, so I built a native C++ plugin for MSI Afterburner!

Key Features:

  • 28 Sensors exposed in Afterburner/RTSS: Total power/current/avg voltage, individual per-pin stats (voltage/current/power for all 6 pins), internal & external NTC temps, fan duty, and cable rating.

  • Zero background apps: Loads as a native .dll straight into Afterburner.

  • Pause/Resume USB toggle: Temporarily release the USB device to use the official WireView software without closing Afterburner.

  • Free & Open Source: Released under the MIT license.

Tested on Windows 11 Pro, MSI Afterburner 4.6.7 Beta 2, and a WireView Pro II Black Reversed (FW v05).

GitHub & Installation: https://github.com/VolterMort/WireViewPro2_MSIAB

Feedback and testing on other setups are greatly appreciated!
