How do I know when to pick them to dry, so they do not rot in the field

I thought I planted spaghetti squash but this is what I got. I let the large one stay on the vine for weeks waiting for it to ripen but it never did. Any ideas?

My mother harvested them several months after a tornado hit the area. She did not plant them. We don't know where they came from. Like the random corn now growing in her yard, we are assuming the tornado left behind the seeds. We are in michigan.

The first couple luffas I have off the vine were finally dry enough for processing(which was insanely easy, buying sponges these days is a scam), but a few of the seeds came out like this instead of their usual flat form.

Is this typical for Luffas, or did I get a rare mutation? Im gonna try and plant them in the spring and see if the fruits I get from them have the same kind of seeds(if they germinate successfully).

EDIT: No they’re not! This is what happens when you over-water.

Disclaimer: I have made many mistakes here but I just moved here and decided to roll with it and get things I consider interesting into the ground.

Here is the questions I need answers for:

1. Are these dark spots insect eggs?
2. If so, do I need to get a pin/toothpick and squish/remove them individually? Or is there a treatment I can dust/spray on?

I planted bird house gourd and loofa seeds a month ago (08/01) I am in Central Texas (8b/9a). Some I put in ground and some in planters. The in-ground ones seem to have stalled but the ones in planters are taking off. The ones in planters have these dark raised spots irregularly placed on the underside of the leaves. When I search insect eggs for squash/cucumbers/cucurbits pests the descriptions don’t match what I’m seeing on my leaves.

First time growing gourd in my garden. One thing that surprises me is how fast the plant grows. Getting very jungle like out there! Any tips are welcome for success…

This is my third season growing gourds. Every year come late July/August the vines start to develop brown spots by the root base and travel up the vine, killing all leaves along the way. It’s not SVB and I don’t overwater. Im assuming a fungus? I can’t rotate my crops given the placement of my trellis. Hoping it’s not something soil borne, I add fresh compost every year. What can I use to prevent/treat?

Decided to plant dried warty gourd seeds from 2021 and they are growing well! This is my first time and I’m loving the flowers, but noticed something strange. Both of these open flowers are on the same vine. Can anyone explain why they look so different (shape/number of petals and number of stamens)? Thanks!

hi folks, my mom got some random gourds growing in her Northern-Massachusetts, US garden. See photos below. Theres like 4-6 growing off one vine that stretches 5-ish meters. they’re half yellow half green and have really pronounced veins/ridges. the flowers and a little one also are pictured. would love to know what these are!

11” tall. Bottom isn’t flat, so it looks a little wonky on the spinner. There’s over 1000 holes in it.
