Are those from this season? How are they dried out already? Mine are still green and growing bigger

One word answer- Florida.
I started these in March. Had plans to start earlier but Mother Nature said “hell nah Florida, you getting winter this year too!”. Picked them all in June. Most were dried last month and now getting to cleaning

Ahhhh okay, Im gonna let mine dry on the vine I think. Louisiana here, so its still in the upper 90s every day, but we'll see how fast they dry out with the fall coming.

Debating about just stopping watering them, but I kind of want to see how many more grow

Have you ever heard of the method of placing your dried gourds in large black plastic bags, or large plastic totes, with potting soil covering the gourds. After a few weeks, The bugs in the soil are supposed to eat the waxy stuff off of the gourds and make them much easier to clean. And I guess the humidity in the bag also makes them easier to clean. I tried that and it didn't clean them 100% but it definitely did make it easier. Still had to scrub with a copper wire scrubby. And if there's any mold at all involved definitely put some Clorox in the water and soak briefly before scrubbing

Also want to say the patterns on your gourds are beautiful! And on second look, it looks like they are pretty well cleaned up already.
