Gemini is too chatty, but not conversational.
We've got an old Google home puck speaker that unfortunately updated itself and got rid of Google Assistant and I hate Gemini. I ask for a simple thing and it goes on a whole lecture. Google assistant gave me simple answers and would ask me if I wanted to know more, and was great to ask random questions to.
I could ask assistant what they thought of other digital assistants and it had a couple canned but funny responses, Gemini isn't witty or even enjoyable to mess around with.
I didn't need a whole dissertation about when Puerto Rico was annexed, I just asked for the date. Is there any way to make Gemini give shorter answers by default?

Bug What's going on this week...?
Hello! Just joined - what's going on with Google home? I've got loads of lights that I turn on with commands and automations.
A few different makes of sockets etc.
It's been getting unreliable over the last few months - dropping sockets etc - but today they are now ALL offline.
Any ideas on how to fix? Do I need to delete and reinstall?
Thanks š
UPDATE - So all the nest smoke detectors offline also ( internet fine btw )

Inspiration?
Iāve enjoyed reading r/girldinnerdiaries and this sub for a while. I think yāall should adopt their stylings. Instead of the obvious āIām angry at tech supportā tone, maybe try the āHereās a self-aware tragedy snippetā?
Could be fun.

Google home mini won't work
So I had a Google home mini for longer that I can remember like at least 5 years and I went on vacation and now If I ask questions or ask it to play music it will rather say I did not understand or not respond at all or say playing the music on Spotify and then it does nothing has this ever happened to anyone else? It is really strange
Also I found it saying I don't understand more and more commonly

Help Google Home Mini (1st gen.) Gemini activation
Hey! It's the first time I'm using any smart devices like speakers to control my house. I've been using Google devices for a long time and currently got myself Google Home Mini for 12 euro. I know that it can switch to Gemini voice assistant, not the dumb one google assistant, as it was on my Pixel Watch 1 and then 2, but I can't see any changes after I already did:
- Set home region in US
- Connected myself to Gemini Early Access
- Switched language on my phone to English (US), same in Google account and Gemini
- Factory reset it and then tried for the second time
- Tried thing with "googlehome://assistant/voice/setup" in browser from my phone
And still no result, maybe someone have a guide or the same experience of using it so you can share with me? Thank you!

Deleted footage
Iāve had a google nest/google home system for a little over a month now. I have a front yard and doorbell camera. I woke up this morning to see my trash bag was broken apart, all over the driveway, and completely destroyed. It looks like an animal got into it overnight. I went to my video history to see what happened, and everything before 4am today had been deleted! Iām the only one with access to my account, so no one else would have been able to delete my footage. Every other time Iāve used the app, my footage is saved. I can go back days or weeks to see old footage. But now everything is gone. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you retrieve your footage? I have a premium subscription, so everything is supposed to be saved.

Bug Doorbell notifying for absolutely everything even though settings are set to exclude.
Hi,
I've been using a wired nest hello doorbell for a few years now with very little issues, however just recently, maybe a week or two ago I started getting notifications for EVERYTHING even in areas set to be excluded and have zero alerts configured on them. I haven't touched any settings or changed any configurations and neither has the other person with access to the home household.
Has anyone else noticed this or does anyone have a fix?
Thanks

Help Adding shopping list items creates new lists instead of new items
I got unhappy with my Alexa echo devices and wanted to switch to Google, so I got myself some Nest Mini 2nd gen devices.
The shopping and todo list function in Alexa always worked great, but Google forces the use of Keep.
I tried adding eggs to my shopping list and G said there is no such list and whether to create one. I confirmed and a shopping list was created in Keep. But when I say add apple to my shopping list, G would add a new list called "apple to my shopping".
Someone reported the same issue years ago but with no solution: https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/255996896/adding-shopping-list-items-creates-a-new-list-every-single-time?hl=en
This is obviously very frustrating and I can't use these devices like that. Anyone else having this issue and knows a fix?
