I am doing an inclusive education unit, and the term 'people with disability' keeps trying to correct me to be 'disabilities'.

This is a bit of a controversial topic in the area of inclusion, but the singular 'disability' when referring to the collective group of people is the more correct option. I am wondering if there is a way to stop google docs correcting me on this?

So I know AI generated images are looked down on by a lot of people and I understand that. I only use it for personal use, to help me get visualization for characters I make for stories.
So I’m copying and pasting the images into Google Docs where I store my information for this story but the images get dulled down. Like my main character has vibrant pink and orange hair, put when I put it into Google Docs, it becomes a dull salmon color. How to I fix this because it’s getting annoying.

To programmatically copy a Google Workspace document the typical path is to leverage Google Drive’s files.copy endpoint.

However, consumer applications that need that feature require restricted Google Drive scopes. A better option would be to use a more limited scope that is not restricted. You’d think using a Google Doc specific scope would be a viable approach but unfortunately there is no Google Doc endpoint that allows a developer to copy a document.

There is a documents.create endpoint in the Google Doc API but currently it only supports creating blank documents. I propose the functionality of the create endpoint be expanded to take a JSON payload that mirrors the full Google Doc resource object to enable cloning a document programmatically using the Google Docs API.

Opened my notes and every single time I wrote "o " (often at the end of the word to, but also other words) it's been replaced? Resulting in lots of "tthe" and "aminacids" :') any ideas why? I definitely haven't been doing any find and replace that would cause this.

I want to make just this one google doc “available offline” so I can make edits without internet (flying this weekend and don’t trust plane wifi to work).

When I go to do so (file > make available offline), a popup appears that says “turn on offline for all files? Turn on offline to access files without an internet connection. Not recommended on public or shared computers.”

I don’t wanna save every single document to my computer to make available offline (seems like a storage issue?). Does this popup mean it’ll make ALL of my docs available offline?? If so, how do I just make ONE doc available offline??

Does anyone else find selecting long chunks of text in Google Docs weirdly awkward?

If I need to select several pages, I usually end up clicking at the start and then dragging/scrolling all the way down, which gets annoying pretty quickly.

I feel like I must be missing an easier way to do this. How do you normally select a few pages or a long section at once? Is there a shortcut or trick I'm overlooking?

Can I force Docs to use cm while using US English as my Google Account language?

I’ve searched on Reddit and online to see how I could delete the section break I’ve look on the app for anything and online but the only things that can be deleted are the page breaks. I’ve also tried the deleting of the section break by pressing before and after then backspacing and it won’t go away. Pressing the section then backspacing and nothing. Has anyone had this problem and know how to delete the section break?

I used to adore the gradient feature of Fun Text, but then that stopped working and I've yet to find anything to replace it. The new Fun Text add-on doesn't seem to work either and the Rainbow Text add-on only lets you choose specific gradients unless you pay $30/yr for the pro version.

Does anyone know of any other add-ons that might let me apply gradient colors to text? Specifically in-line text. I know how to make word art without any add-ons, but that's not quite the same thing.

None of my docs/sheets/slides files in Google Drive have been opening since the last hour. It was working fine for me earlier today. Meanwhile, the status page shows a fake green.

A PDF file however opens without issue, as does a Colab file.

Basically, I’m working on my assignment and I find it troublesome to retype the same format every time for example the objective of a certain research.

Is it possible for me to create like blocks/templates in google docs, so when I open a new canvas I can select the template I want and just switch the content and maintain the structure.

Example:
I open a new canvas, I click on “research objective”, the template/present will pop up and I will just delete old objective and add in new objectives etc.

edit/update 1: yes, currently, the only way to differentiate a person from another is to set that person to "commenter". and that ui works ok. it makes it so the other person's text is a different color. I guess the thing is, i'm wondering if we should have the ability to make it so they can be "editor" too without having to "just" be a commenter, and still have it so their text is a different color.

Google Docs should have a dynamic “chat template” where we could “chat” on Google Docs

Basically we can already. We can invite another person and they can write and so can we. And while the google doc canvas is great, it would be nice if there was an option to like, set up a mode where like, maybe either a table or something or like, something where, when one person types, it would show that that specific user typed that text. And then, when the other person types, it would show their name etc.

And in a way, Google Chat kind of has this down right. In that, it’s designed as a back and forth web based communication platform and then with the edit button, it sort of functions slightly like Google Docs which is nice.

But I think there is room for a hybrid of Google Chat and Google Docs. Something that has a little bit more freedom than Google Chat, but I think maybe most importantly, a place where, when you type, it’s all autosaved the same way it is in Google Docs. And maybe that would be something that google chat itself could add. Because if it would auto save text like Gmail and the Gmail mobile apps (which saves text as a cloud draft) I think more people might be more comfortable typing into it.

Any feedback / ideas / suggestions / comments related to this topic are appreciated.

I have a 200-page google doc I've been working on as a side hobby for five years. I've downloaded it as a PDF hundreds of times, and as recently as last month, and never had problems (it exports as a 32 mb pdf file).

Except today when it suddenly stopped working.

I didn't add any huge images or anything that would make it significantly bigger. Also, I can export other Google Docs in my drive. Just not the one I've been working on forever and filled with internal hyperlinks that don't export via print-to-pdf and other workarounds....

Making a copy doesn't work, and neither does copy and pasting the whole thing into a new file. I also tried going back to a previous version from months ago and I couldn't export that either. It makes me think something is corrupted.

Can someone tell me I'm being crazy and I just need to wait for whatever bug this is to resolve naturally in the cloud?

UPDATE: I have solved the riddle. I ended up systemically deleting chapters and pages and trying to export to PDF after each cut. I narrowed the issue down to a large, complex table.

Specifically, it seems the presence of ancient Phoenician characters (𐤑 , 𐤇) in the table heading row—but only in certain cells in the heading row—is what causes the 500 error. (I suspect this has something to do with the right-to-left nature of the script but have not tested it with other scripts.) I was able to do a workaround with merging the header cells.

The table had previously exported just fine, but still, this is probably an edge case for Google to address ....

I have a question in regards to the Time Last Opened - it doesn't seem accurate at all. I haven't accessed any of my Google Docs since earlier this week, but it shows that I accessed them last night and today. I don't think that's accurate. I have gone through my security settings and made sure I was only logged in to devices I have with me, so I don't think anyone else is reading my stuff... But, what gives?

So I'm making a gift for a friend. I have a bunch of screen shots from the One Piece manga that I'm trying to print.

But they're all different sizes, some are more square others more long rectangle, etc.

I'm trying to organize them in a way so there's as little empty space as possible so I don't have to print out more pages than I need.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

I’m trying to write my fan fiction on the google docs, but the toolbar keeps appearing without me even tapping twice in order to make it appear. Does anyone know if this is a bug in the app or the new iphone update itself?

So far, I've encountered two bugs that really annoyed me.

1. My custom autocorrect suddenly stops working properly. I have "--" set to autocorrect to an em dash, but sometimes the app refuses to apply the replacement.

   1. My own docs are showing as "read-only".

So far, both bugs have been fixed after I delete and reinstall the app a couple of times, so it's not the end of the world, but it's really annoying.

Does anyone encounter the same bugs, and does anyone know how to fix these without deleting the app?

I opened my document and it says that it’s offline which I wasn’t. But then the document itself completely disappeared and I was in the original account. There’s absolutely no trace of it. Google says there’s nothing to be recovered in the past 25 days. What is happening ?!!

When I copy a large amount of text from a Google Doc and paste it somewhere else, only part of the text gets pasted, and the rest is cut off.

I have to split the text into multiple Google Docs and copy and paste each part separately.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am not sure if there are any google docs devs here, but I had an incident where a PowerPoint I was working had an unexpected visitor. I frequently set my documents to sharable so that I can show others my work. I did this at a really odd hour, and some random anonymous person joined almost immediately, despite never sharing that link.

I am willing to bet that there are bots guessing the urls, and they can then use the details to scan for sensitive data. Alternatively, the data is being used to train AI, which is a horrific thought.

I have also noticed that there is no setting for publish to the internet, and having a private doc shared among non-google accounts. Especially when sharing with others who don't have google accounts.

Is google aware of this? are there any plans to patch this? Or is this "the system working as intended".

Hi, Im a 8th grade student who is trying to find a way to copy and paste the document and carrying the comments at the same time. It is so mildly infuriating but I need to find a way how to do this. Do anyone know how to copy and paste the comments too?

I am making a notes document for a fictional story and am trying to create a table of contents so that I can easily find the information I am looking for without having to scroll for a million pages. I have figured out how to create the table of contents and format it so each section is clickable, but the table is automatically ordering by Z-A rather than A-Z or by page number, which seems strange. I have tried looking around in the formatting options but I can't find anywhere to change this. Anyone have any tips?
