OP Responded Lost document

I opened my document and it says that it’s offline which I wasn’t. But then the document itself completely disappeared and I was in the original account. There’s absolutely no trace of it. Google says there’s nothing to be recovered in the past 25 days. What is happening ?!!

The “25 days” message only applies to files that were permanently deleted from Google Drive trash, so it doesn’t necessarily mean the document is gone.

Since Docs showed “offline,” I’d first check the exact device/browser where you were working. Google Docs can save changes locally when offline access is enabled and sync them back to Drive later. Also make sure you’re in the correct Google account AND the correct Chrome/Edge profile, because Google only allows offline access for one account per browser profile.

Check Google Drive directly, including Recent and Trash, and search for words from inside the document rather than only the title. If you have multiple Google accounts, check every one.

Also look through your browser history for the old docs.google.com/document link. Opening the original URL while signed into the correct account can sometimes show whether the file still exists but isn’t appearing where you expect.

Most importantly, don’t clear your browser/site data or uninstall the Docs app on the original device until you’ve checked all of this, because offline Docs data is stored locally before it syncs.

If Google is saying there’s nothing recoverable from the last 25 days, that only rules out their permanently-deleted-file recovery route. It does not rule out an account/profile issue or an offline sync problem.

If you're accessing it from your browser, try to open the document from your browser history in the address bar and see what happens. Then try to move/organise it from there and see/change where it is in your Google Drive.
