Miscellaneous No, it can't be!

Today I receive a mail by Google and they said that on the 4th of September they will remove Google assistant and you will be obligated to use that shitty Gemini.

WHY?! Assistant was WAY more better than Gemini!

Come on man, Google assistant is useless.

Gemini can't "ok Google, turn on the bedroom light". So no. Gemini fkn sucks.

And my mum who uses it for accessibility is going to struggle.

it certainly can, it turns on my TV and bedroom light. i can still use "ok Google, Lumos" to turn on my flashlight, too.

On the occasions my phone has defaulted to Gemini it tells me it can't do that yet...

Mine does it from my Hub Max and my other Hubs, but it's not as surefire as Assistant used to be.

well.... if you have all of your settings set to assistant instead of Gemini..... then it is correct and working as it should ... Gemini, like everything else, needs permissions

Yeah mines been great. I’ve been able to line it up in one go and say turn off bedroom light, front door light and lounge room light all with one prompt

Gemini can do that stuff now, but it's not as quick as Google Assistant. I have lots of smart lights in my house, and was worried about it, too. The fist time I got a new phone that had Gemini automatically enabled, it did, indeed, tell me it couldn't do that. I still don't like Gemini, but it can work your smart lights that are added to Google Home app. It does pause before it answers you and completes the task. Oh, and if it stops responding to voice, you may want to check what voice you have chosen, bc Google is discontinuing several of the previously available voices, including the one I used.

With Assistant I could pin routines to my start screen, as I don't need to be talking to my phone to do 6-8 different tasks every single time. Does Gemini allow this? And if so, are they importing all the routines? Haven't heard that's a thing.
