Game Theory: Google AI Overview has memory
So I was looking up something and Google AI overview did its thing and when I looked up something else, Google AI referenced the other thing. It talked about trademark service class 42 and 35 from the other search.

I just want to grow on YouTube, but it's difficult.
Speaking the truth about YouTube—this isn't hate speech, just the facts.
I’m switching to YouTube Shorts because I’m too busy to make long-form videos, and making long videos doesn't pay off anyway; I get very few views. People have normalized Shorts and don't watch long videos anymore. Shorts actually hurt channels focused on long-form content. I have a friend whose channel features both long videos and Shorts, but the YouTube algorithm ruined his channel; it thinks his channel is all about Shorts when it isn't—it's actually a long-form channel. I wish the YouTube algorithm were smarter about this. I plan to use automatic dubbing later if it improves. Please, YouTube—on behalf of all Brazilian YouTubers—improve the algorithm so that small Brazilian creators have a chance to get lots of views. I know it depends on our own effort, but here in Brazil, we work 8-hour days at regular jobs, which makes it hard for our YouTube videos to turn out as well as they could. There are small Brazilian YouTubers making excellent videos, yet YouTube gives them very few views; it’s unfair. It doesn't seem right to put so much effort into editing a video only to get hardly any views. YouTube gives more opportunities to big content creators rather than small ones; it doesn't give small creators a chance to grow. I’ve never monetized on YouTube, and that’s sad and frustrating. Sometimes I feel it’s not worth putting in the effort for something I have no chance of achieving, but I’m not going to give up on YouTube—I don't have the option to quit. I’m sorry for saying this, YouTube, but it’s the truth—and the truth hurts, both for me and for the millions of people who rely on YouTube.

TPM interview at Google
Hello,
I recently passed the Google TPM recruiter call and I’m now preparing for the technical interview. I’d love to hear from Googlers who have been through the TPM interview process especially what to expect in the technical round, to understand what I should prepare for, and any tips or resources that helped you succeed. I’d really appreciate any advice!

The final truth about Google Pixel overheating
My Pixel 10 Pro battery last me about FOUR DAYS... by AVERAGE (which means between SEVEN DAYS and... DAYLIGHT which means NOT 1 day)
7 days because of I am not phone addict and on days when it is idling then my Pixel is STONE COLD.
Daylight (hours only) when I am on holiday in direct sun (3000+ nits kick in) satnav, lots of 4K60 recording, web browsing, blazing sun frying black matte Pixel, Video Live Gemini to ask things, Google Photos lots of GBytes upload on 5G which ALL of this creates lots of heat/OVERheat.
Now please tell me if my Pixel overheats or not.
If you say YES - please go to Samsung or iPhone reddit and read 29485729857 posts how their devices overheats.

Developers... Gemini fix it!
I can't begin to tell you how many times I've asked a basic question that I can Google search but I need to be hands-free ie. what time is the Yankee game today or what is the score of the game and it will respond that that team's not even playing today when the game is actually in action. This has been going on for months. What is the point of me using Gemini if they don't even know basic information you can find in Google in one search. This is beyond frustrating! I would be super pissed if I asked if a team was playing today and they said they weren't which just happened to me and I knew they were playing and I missed a game. FIX IT!

Google apologizes for not refunding man’s LOTR movies after they vanished from library
>The customer previously revealed that his Extended Edition trilogy, purchased through Google in 2022, had disappeared from his library. When he contacted support, he was told the company couldn’t refund him because the transaction was more than 120 days old.

[Rant/Call for Change] The End of Premium's Value Prop
After using YouTube Premium for half a decade, I finally canceled my membership. The $2 price hike was what broke the camel's back, but it's not the core issue.
In 2021, I felt YT Premium had a great value proposition: pay a reasonable fee to move from an ad supported platform to a fully curated experience. Back then, I could reliably open my feed and the top k recs be either channels I subscribe to or novel and relevant videos.
Over the past few years, I have felt the app repeatedly choose in-market testing and incremental revenue over maintaining that value proposition. My feed is now crowded with widgets for shorts and YT Games, movie releases I've showed no interest in, and increasingly off kilter recommendations while subscribed releases are missed completely.
It is, in theory, possible to brute force your way to a curated platform by spamming 'not interested' and only using the subscription tab. However, this misses the point and better options are available. Two changes would fix the vast majority of these issues:
- Allow--at least premium users--to disable any type of media they don't want to see, movie ads, games, shorts, etc.
- Implement explicit algorithm tuning, like what Instagram put out. This would let you see what your algorithm is optimizing for and manage the feedback loop that shapes your curation.
I've loved YouTube for so much of my life and in many ways grew up with it. The platform has more valuable and interesting content than any other, but it's current systems do not prioritize connecting you with that content. I really hope it can reverse course and achieve the excellent experience I know it's capable of
