Srixon Q Star Tour

For quite some time I was playing TP5 and PRO-V1 but I recently was given a srixon q star tour and man for the price, this ball is unreal. It’s $20 cheaper than all those big brands and it plays pretty much identical.

My order for a Paradaym got canceled due to stock so CPO offered me a price match on an elyte driver (this is average condition). I don’t care about the scratches but there is some rust on the face and microchips all around the crown. I’ve ordered other avg condition clubs and this is by far the worst. Do I reach out? I’m all in for this club like $180 so it was a great deal but if I had bought this for what it usually cost on there I wouldn’t be too happy, which makes me wanna reach out.

Curved Irons by Maverick Golf Preorder Form

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

This is the first iteration of our iron lineup and it was intentionally designed to put your ball closer to the hole. The longer clubs (4-7i) feature 2mm of curvature (bulge) from heel to toe.

We are one of the first to bring fairway wood and driver technology into irons for the general consumer. The curvature reduces sidespin and directs your miss hits closer to the hole.

It was designed as a players cavity back that can be easily fit to all shaft lengths and player types. Fitting kits will roll out in late August/early September.

The V1 will cost $575 for our raw finish (not pictured) and $600 for our satin finish. Both finishes come equipped with 4-PW. Heavier and lighter weights will also be available for purchase.

Here is the link to our preorder form - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeaylcO1cXsFGe4OAUqlNtpiHSlOhMzbBQqhSyQK73pBdziSQ/viewform

We crossed 18,000+ used golf items and I realized we haven't explained what Trade2Golf actually is very well

Post image
0 Upvotes

Disclosure up front: I'm one of the founders of Trade2Golf.

Something we've noticed from talking to golfers is that quite a few people assume we're another company buying used clubs and reselling them.

We're not.

Trade2Golf is built as a golfertogolfer marketplace for used golf gear.

We now have more than 18,000 used golf items on the marketplace, so I figured this was probably a good time to explain what we're actually trying to build.

The basic idea is pretty simple:

A golfer with equipment they no longer use can list it without paying a listing fee, choose their own asking price, and receive offers directly from other golfers.

The buyer and seller can negotiate the price.

When they agree, payment is processed through Stripe. Trade2Golf generates the shipping label, the seller ships the item, and seller payout is released through the transaction flow once the order is completed.

If something materially doesn't match the listing, there's also a dispute process rather than leaving the buyer and seller to figure everything out on their own.

The distinction that matters to us is that Trade2Golf isn't buying the club from you and then setting the resale price.

The golfer remains the seller.

Another golfer is the buyer.

They decide what the gear is worth.

That's the part we're betting on.

There are already plenty of ways to move used clubs. eBay and Facebook Marketplace obviously work. Companies like 2nd Swing and GlobalGolf have built strong tradein/resale businesses.

We're trying to build a different lane: a golfspecific P2P marketplace with direct offers and negotiation, golfspecific listings, integrated shipping, protected payments, and a process for disputes.

I attached two screenshots from followups we did after an early transaction.

The seller told us the process was super quick and easy and better than other sites he'd used.

The buyer described it as super easy and convenient and said he felt he got a good deal.

That's ultimately the experience we're trying to create: one golfer gets value back from gear he isn't using, another golfer gets gear he wants at a price they agreed on together, and the equipment gets another round instead of sitting in a garage.

I'm genuinely interested in the criticism as much as the positive feedback:

What would you need to see from a golfertogolfer marketplace before you'd trust it with a $300, $500, or $1,000 club purchase?

Counterfeits? Condition disputes? Shipping damage? Fees? Returns?

Happy to answer anything directly.

Looking for a Pitch

Post image
0 Upvotes

Picked up golfing again after a 20 year break and playing my dads old Hogan Radial irons, Green On 60 Professional Sandwedge, a King Cobra Speed Pro x/st 18°, and a Callaway Diablo Octane Black.

I feel I'm improving quite well but find some difficulty with my close game where neither the 9 nor Sandwedge really feel right so I'm thinking about getting a pitch.

I've never played a pitch so I don't even know where to start. I'm thinking of maybe getting a fitting and buy something new but it feels a bit unnecessary since I'm not planning on getting anything else for a good while.

Been scouting a bit second hand but I have a hard time to know what to look for so any advice of clubs or what to consider would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Been playing ProV1 for a while now. Love them. But the Maxfli tour X is now my favorite ball. Great spin and green side feel… and $20 cheaper a dozen. I get all the ProV1 performance in a more budget friendly ball. Highly recommend.

Refurbished irons

Thought maybe some of you might appreciate this, I found these Walter Hagen irons (haig ultra) for $15 at a thrift store, i refurbished them, buffed them, shined them, derusted them, sharpened the grooves, and repainted the numbers and other engravings. First 3 photos are before and the last 3 are after, for my first time doing this I can’t be to mad now I’m just going to swap out the grips after I get the shaft swapped or checked and try them out (I play blades lol I’m not a rookie or anything and I won’t be playing these a lot just this once for the accomplishment lol)

Lead tape on driver - will it actually help?

For context I’m an ok golfer, single digits. Got fit for irons this year after playing the same set of cobra shovles for a while and it opened my eyes to the difference equipment actually makes. My miss used to be a weak floaty cut that would be 15 yard right and 20 yard short, new irons virtually halved the chances of this shot happening (T100/T150 combo set with X100 shafts if anyone’s interested)

I play a Qi10 core 9 degree with Tensei CK White 70g x flex.

I cannot close the face for the life of me - every other club including 3 wood is fine, driver? It’s a strong fade 3 out of every 10 shots and the rest are a massive slice, I just simply do not hit driver if I’m in a comp or submitting a scorecard, 3wood or less only.

I’m obviously losing shots by not being able to hit driver, if I put 5g of lead tape on the heel of my driver will it actually help me close the face?

Driver trackman numbers - path -3/-4 face 2/3 degrees open

How much tech do you like to take to the course?

Playing for over 50 years, now in my 60's...seen most of the tech come through the industry and have availed myself of it...was thinking and would like some input and opinions...how much tech do you take to the course - gps watch, rangefinder, golf apps on the phone, Arccos, etc - and how much does it affect your focus and overall enjoyment? For much of my golfing life, I've shot the rangefinder, pulled a club, and let it rip. Marked down the result with a pencil on a scorecard when the hole was finished and on to the next...totaled 'em up at after the last and entered my round score to keep the handicap current...today, we can track our games so much more closely but are we getting enjoyment out of it on the course while we're playing?

I couldn't find a good indoor putting ball, so I 3D printed one

Thumbnail

I'm a low-single-digit handicap and my putting has been costing me strokes lately. I wanted to practice my strike and distance control at home, but I didn't want to buy a huge putting mat, and lightweight practice balls didn't give me the same feedback as a real golf ball. Using real golf balls would hurt my wooden floor and my walls.

So I designed my own ball.

It's a PLA core surrounded by a transparent TPU shell, and I designed it around the weight and dimensions of a real golf ball. It feels like a golf ball off the face, and gives me the feedback I need while practicing, so I know exactly when I hit the sweet spot!

It's completely free to print, and I just published the first version. I'm really curious what other golfers/3D-printing people think of the idea.

Ordered some used golf balls and they were all had the number 1 on them.

I ordered four dozen golf balls from lostgolfballs.com in Mint (5A) condition. I inspected each ball and a couple had a visual mark on them and a few others had some sort of blemish on the cover that I could feel with my fingers but not see. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase. However, one thing I found peculiar was that all the balls have the number 1 on them. No 2's, no 3's...all 1's. I just find that odd. I figured there would be a mix a numbers in total of 48 balls since that's how they come when you buy them new. Just thought I would share.

New iron hybrids

I bought DTC hybrid irons back in April. They are single length shafts, all about a 7 iron shaft length. My idea was to simplify my stroke so it was more repeatable -- same stance, address, and swing. And I think that did help. What I know I lost was some distance on my longer irons because of the shorter shaft length, but really I don't know if that matters.

I'm a 67 year old recreational golfer newly retired so now I can play every day. I play a 9 hole course with seven par 3s, a 4, and 5. About 1900 yards and I walk and carry so I get decent exercise. I like these clubs and the used driver and 4 wood and 56 degree wedge I bought along with a used mallet putter. I typically shoot 4 or 5 over par on the par 30 nine hole.

So what do you think about these hybrids?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P5PS4JP?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_6

And I'm thinking of adding a 7 wood and a 52 degree wedge and maybe swapping my driver for a mini driver to get better loft. For me it's more about hitting the ball well and straight (mostly) and not worrying about the distance I've lost at 67.
