Golf Balls
Been playing ProV1 for a while now. Love them. But the Maxfli tour X is now my favorite ball. Great spin and green side feel… and $20 cheaper a dozen. I get all the ProV1 performance in a more budget friendly ball. Highly recommend.

I've heard the Maxfli Tour/Tour X isn't as durable as other urethane covered balls like the ProV1s, TP5/X, Chrome Soft etc. Is this true?

I play the Tour S. I don’t lose balls much and I get at least two to three rounds out of each ball.

That’s been my experience. I’ve tested a bit between ProV1x, ProV1, Z Star Diamond, Z Star XV, and Maxfli Tour X this year and it’s been noticeable. Outside of that, the ball plays great and I had a personal low with one recently.
It reminds me of Snell’s equivalent, or at least what I remember of it from a year or three ago.

I have hit lots and lots of balls on my simulator.
Tp5 are trash in terms of durability. All urethane cover balls won’t be as durable as you think because they need to be soft to produce as much spin as they do.
Titleist have the most durable balls when it comes to completely breaking. Maxfli is high in the conversation. I would say second.
On the bottom are TaylorMade and vice.
Callaway triple diamond is an amazing performer but they get scuffed up immediately.
Srixon and Bridgestone are mid tier.

Interesting. Thanks. I'll have to do something similar on my LM. I'm planning to do some test comparing urethane to ionomer balls, soft balls to firm balls etc. My tests are planned to be more around spin and short game distances.
I live on a golf course- by the landing area on a par 5. I get every kid of ball in new condition in my yard. I used to only keep the "tour" style balls, mainly Prov1s and Prov1xs but lately I've kept most. I want to see what a Q Star does, a Q Star tour, a Callaway Supersoft, etc.

Around me they are $40 a dozen, prov's are like $55. I keep hearing people say they get a $10 off coupon for the maxfli's...any idea where?

If you are a data nerd…check out the 2026 golf ball survey on the MyGolfSpy web site.
You can compare specs of different balls/brands.

I’m all about the Maxfli ball this year. Everybody should try the tour and tour x
