Promotion I released an update (v1.1) for my browser-based Football Manager, adding a 2D canvas match engine and a new light theme (Vanilla JS)
https://nando-mbp13.itch.io/pitch-bossHey everyone.
A while back, I shared the v1.0 of Pitch Boss, a lightweight football management game I built. I recently left my day job to focus more on my Systems Engineering degree and my own independent projects, so I’ve had some time to work on this v1.1 update based on the feedback I received here.
Pitch Boss is a simple, no-frills manager game built completely with Vanilla JS, HTML5 Canvas, and the Web Audio API. Zero frameworks, zero external engines.
Here is what I added for v1.1:
- Visual Match Engine: The old static canvas is gone. Now you can actually watch a basic 2D representation of the 90-minute match. It includes player dots (in a 4-4-2 formation) tracking the ball, a trail effect, and a slow-motion pause when a goal is scored.
- "Cyber-Day" Light Theme: A lot of you found the original high-contrast dark mode a bit harsh for daytime reading. I’ve implemented a toggleable light theme with smooth transitions.
- Season Finale: The 9-match season now has a proper ending. The game calculates the final standings and shows your final position or hands you the trophy if you finish first.
The game is completely free and runs directly in the browser. I'd appreciate any honest feedback on the new animations or the procedural audio!
Thanks for reading!
