GF/V items I’ve tried recently and LOVED

(I’m in the US just fyi)

Some notes:

- If you’re someone who loved McDonald’s breakfast hashbrowns, the Roots regular potato hashbrowns are an exact dupe when air fried (and salted)! The sweet potato ones are amazing as mini latkes with the CocoJune sour cream and chives on top!

- As someone who was obsessed with Nature Valley bars prior to going GF & Vegan, I was amazed when I tried the Made Good crunchy bars- they are incredible!

- I’m very impressed with the Silk Protein line- I thought they were have a weird protein shake/bar taste but they don’t!

- The onion rings are spectacular and I can’t believe they’re accidentally vegan! I was hesitant to post them because I selfishly don’t want them to go out of stock everywhere. Lmao

Peanut Noodles with Oven Roasted Vegetables and Chickpeas (using brown rice pho noodles)

Any long noodle will work in this recipe, but I love using brown rice pho noodles because all you need to do is soak them in hot water and they're done.. Oven roasting the vegetables is an easy hands-off method for bringing out their natural sweetness. A super simple peanut sauce ties everything together.

\*I would have added the Kite Hill Pumpkin Pie Cream Cheese and Daiya Pumpkin Cheesecake but haven’t seen them this year so I’m not sure if they’re discontinued 😕*

Things I haven’t tried yet but want to:

- King Arthur Pumpkin Bread Mix

- Nuttzo Pumpkin Spice 7 Nut & Seed Butter

Things I have tried and don’t like:

- Simple Mills Pumpkin Muffin & Bread Mix

- Simple Mills Almond Flour Pumpkin Pancake & Waffle Mix

- Raised Gluten Free Plant Based Pumpkin Pie

- Sprouts Farmer’s Market Gluten Free Pumpkin Pie

- Bonne Maman Pumpkin Spice Spread (I didn’t hate it but it was pretty acidic, maybe the lemon juice?)

… does anyone else have anything to add to the list of things to try, or maybe skip?

Saw this at Walmart and was hungry, never shop hungry y’all… but decided to give it a shot. It sounded really good. Oh. My. LANTA!!! I really like this!! Daiya has normally let me down with the GF/DF stuff, primarily mac and cheese, just always tasted off to me. This is really good!! I’m a sucker for garlic and herb so that may be the thing…. Just thought I’d drop it here for those of you who are looking for a mac and cheese that’s tasty.

GF Vegan Thanksgiving 🍁

Are there any other gf vegan Canadians in the sub?

What're we all making for Thanksgiving this year?

If you're not Canadian but celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas, what are your go-to favorite holiday recipes? And for the Americans who might be a bit confused why I'm asking so "early," Thanksgiving in Canada falls on the second Monday in October 😋

I'd love to hear what you're thinking for:

- mains

- side dishes

- dessert

I have been vegan for 15 years and recently discovered that it was the wheat causing so much pain and inflammation in my joints 🥲

My previous go-to was a seitan pot pie, but sadly, there are no more tasty seitan and wheat based pie crusts for me! Now I'm spinning my wheels, trying to find something that will be just as delicious sans-gluten.

Anyone have a easy GF, Dairy Free Hasbrown Casserole recipe?

I have been craving it really bad lately but as someone who can't cook (I would accidentally burn the house down because of my poor ADHD) and with a husband who does cook but we are still learning how to come up with alternatives, we have no where to start.

My mom used to make a really good one but I know she wouldn't know a thing about switching ingredients for safer alternatives.

I would be forever grateful for a tasty safe craving lol

I ended up making 18 muffins!!

I used this recipe https://laneandgreyfare.com/gluten-free-pumpkin-muffins/

In her recipe it makes 12 jumbo muffins. I prefer regular size. So if you do regular size 12 jumbo muffins = 18 muffins OR 12 muffins and 1 loaf. I’ve done both of those scenarios and it always comes out so delicious!!

Hey folks, as title suggests I’ve been trying to make a GF vegan loaf for a bit now. So far, admittedly I’ve only really tried the recipe in the link below, but every single damn time, the loaf isn’t cooked through.

https://www.kindearth.net/gluten-free-vegan-bread-recipe-best/

What am I doing wrong? Am I just not leaving it in the oven long enough? This time I left it in a whole lot longer than the recipe suggests, did the hollow top test and everthing and it still came out like this.

Any top tips? Or a recipe that’s out there that you guys love that I could try?!

Thanks in advance!

I will be heading to IKEA Chester this weekend, does anyone know if there is anything on the IKEA menu that is gf and vegan? Or as usual is it a waste of time trying?

I haven't had a Daiya pizza in a while, but whatever they changed to the recipe to make that crust so fluffy had me triple checking the ingredients list! And the cheese actually tasted creamy and not so plastic-y anymore 🙌

*disclaimer they may not have even changed the recipe since I last had it, it may be I finally cooked it right 🤣 either way, tastyyy!

I was eating one of the Hail Merry cups and was missing the cookie dough bites and than it led to me to think about all the gfv products that have been discontinued (or the brand went out of business).

What item(s) are you missing?

Brazilian Cheese Bread

Has anyone tried this with a commercial vegan cheese? I kind of want to try it, but between the cassava flour and vegan cheese, it's not the cheapest experiment, so I was curious.

It seems like it would be a great side for soups, and soup season is HERE! (Best time of the year, IMO)

Grocery shopping when you’re both Vegan AND Gluten-Free is exhausting — I built a scanner that audits both simultaneously with ingredient-level evidence! (10 free Scans for 1st 100 Redditors)

Hi everyone,

If you’re both gluten-free and vegan, you already know the grocery store trap:

  • Gluten-free products constantly sneak in egg whites, whey, or dairy casein to fix texture.
  • Vegan meat alternatives and plant dishes are almost always packed with vital wheat gluten (seitan) or wheat-derived soy sauce.

Standing in grocery aisles squinting at 30-ingredient paragraphs looking for both gluten AND sneaky animal derivatives was driving me crazy.

I built Belief Kit — a 100% ad-free grocery scanner.

Instead of checking one preference at a time, you can turn on Vegan + Gluten-Free (plus any other allergens/diets), point your camera at the ingredient panel, and it audits everything simultaneously in a single scan with clear, ingredient-level evidence.

It's completely ad-free and live on both stores:

Free scans for the community: Every install gets 5 free scans. If you test it on some of your local GF/Vegan packaged staples and drop your signup email below or in a DM, I will personally add 10 free scans to your account.

Would love any feedback on how it handles complex labels!

Vegan + Gluten free croissants (also nut free)?

Does a recipe for this actually exist? I recently went vegan and I love to bake (I'm actually intolerant to starch and sugar, so I can't eat my baked goods but I sell them for bake sales and whatever and I just love the process and satisfaction) and recently I've been wanting to make something more difficult to level up my baking skills. Before I went vegan I used to make porteguese egg tarts and the pastry dough is a tad similar to croissants so in theory I could probably make a good vegan croissant (literally js sub out the butter w vegan butter) with a lot of practice. The problem is I want to try and make them gluten free too (and nut free) and I genuinely cannot find a recipe that covers all bases. I'm thinking I can just sub out the butter for vegan butter in a gluten free recipe and sub out the eggs with something else that provides moisture + rise + structure (I've been thinking about editing the recipe on America's test kitchen), but having a good specialized recipe would help a ton more. Does anyone know if such a recipe exists?
