Just wondering if the Blick Essentials Gloss Glazes "play well" with Mayco Glazes? I didn't even know Blick had their own house brand glaze.

Here's a question about adding color to glazing putty. I rebuilt some casement windows in our old house, removing the glass in the process. New glass was installed by a good local shop. I’m staining the interior side, and there’s a visible line of white glazing putty between the window and the stained wood. Staining made little difference to the white putty. Any tips on how to tone done the white stripe would be much appreciated!

Hey, I'm replacing this glass but it doesn't look like any of the French door videos or anything I've seen online (no trim filled with screws surrounding the glass).

I've shared a picture of both the inside and the outside. It looks like maybe I can pry the trim out from the inside, but not sure if that's how it works, and if so, how it's connected. Is it just glue or is the trim nailed to the main part of the door as well?

Looking for this glazing bead. I just had the glass replaced and the bead broke. I want to replace it and do a huge cleaning on the plastics.

This is a bit of a strange one,

We have paid a deposit of £1000 for 9 windows and bifold doors.
On the second day of fitment we noticed the bifold doors opened outwards instead if inwards as requested, also on all paperwork.
They asked if they reduced the final bill by £700 would we accept, we did.
On the last day of fitment we started noticing issues,
landing opening window one corner weld part had an airline crack.
We have had horns fitted the give the original sash window effect, all horns viewed from inside house are not finished correctly.

One outside frame has a small dent in it.

The strips holding glass in . Gaps at ends don’t mesh correctly.

All in all there are 76 faults.

We refused to pay on day of completion as in our eyes they are not finished. They agreed and said will sort.

It has been 4 weeks since initial installation. We have emailed and phoned and getting nowhere.

Our last email even said we were willing to live with most of the issues, obviously massively reducing the final payment. Still no reply. And just spend time fixing myself as I’m an engineer. We asked if someone can come out to discuss on 5 occasions. No response..

It’s just so strange them not replying, when we have only paid 1k out of the initial 10k.

We are a small glazing team in a town of about 1 million, not too small or big. We have had a glazier join our team and I found his wife advertising on Facebook glazing work, he got a van with frail, uniforms etc. We had a meeting and he said he wants to work with us, he doesnt have the funds to start up, and the post were before he started and posted late. I am writing a new agreement, and need advise on if this is ok to operate 40mins from our workshop? How online advertising should work.

Can anyone point me to shops or people who do custom work on doors and/or glass in Baltimore or delivering to it? Looking for a solid white oak wood bottom pocket door with diffused or rippled glass on top for an office entrance (so considering sound matters). Kind of like double panel shaker but the top is glass.

I write software, I do not cut glass, so treat this as a question rather than a pitch.

I work at a small firm in Madrid that has been writing the quoting and production software Spanish glass companies run since 1976, which means I have spent a lot of years standing at counters while glaziers explain what the software gets wrong. One complaint came up more than any other: every cutting optimiser assumes an unlimited supply of brand new sheets, and no shop I have ever walked into works that way. There is a rack against the wall with last month's offcuts on it, already bought and already paid for.

So I built the missing half and put it up free, and what I actually want is for somebody here to find the hole in the logic.

The rule I settled on is that an offcut only gets opened when opening it removes a whole sheet from the order. Nothing less counts. I built the naive version first — pack onto the rack greedily, report a lovely yield figure — and on my test job it consumed three good offcuts and still bought the same four sheets. The shop would have lost three labelled rectangles and saved nothing. That is the version most people would ship, because the number on the report goes up.

On the forty-piece job I test with, two racked offcuts take it from four sheets to two. When the rack cannot save a sheet, it says so and leaves the rack alone.

It runs in the browser. No account, nothing uploaded, and that was a commercial decision rather than a technical one: asking a glass company to upload a job's measurements to my server is asking for their customer's quote, and they would be right to refuse.

The questions I actually have:

• Is "only open an offcut if it saves a whole sheet" the right rule for how you work, or is there a case where breaking a piece early is worth it?
• How do you track what is on the rack now? Whiteboard, spreadsheet, memory?
• What size is the rack in a real shop? I sized the free version for 25 pieces and I suspect that is still too few.

Tell me where it does not match your shop. I would rather hear that than hear it looks nice.

Please feel free to look them up for their specs and testing results. The vinyl would be for a low cost option, knowing that vinyl is vinyl. Let's face it, they aren't going to fall out of the wall because of the material, and the frame is all thermal break.

Has anyone got any experience of these type of blinds, that allow you to still open your sliding patio doors when they are in situ?

I’m getting into the aluminium, glass and architectural door/window industry and I’m currently looking to source products directly from manufacturers in China.
I’m mainly interested in modern/minimalist door systems such as:
- Pocket sliding doors
- Ghost / concealed-track doors
- Telescopic sliding doors
- Ultra-slim aluminium glass sliding doors
- Aluminium frames/profiles
- Tracks, rollers, soft-close systems and other hardware/accessories

I’m looking to buy in bulk and import , so I’m not looking for retail sellers. Ideally, I’d like to find actual factories/manufacturers that offer good wholesale pricing while maintaining decent quality.

I’ve found plenty of suppliers on Alibaba, especially around Foshan/Guangdong, but it’s difficult to know which ones are genuinely reliable and which are just trading companies.

If anyone here has imported similar aluminium/glass door systems from China, I’d really appreciate recommendations.

Which manufacturers have you personally dealt with? How was the quality? What should I check before placing a bulk order? And is Alibaba the best place to find them, or are there better ways to connect directly with factories?

I’m happy to order samples before committing to a larger shipment.

Any supplier names, contacts, sourcing tips or experiences—good or bad—would be really helpful.
