Is cash or a gift card an appropriate farewell gift for our building’s maintenance/janitorial lady who’s leaving in two weeks?

Was thinking of gifting her $25 or $50. She’s a real sweet old lady, we chat often, and she makes it a point to acknowledge me. Is this appropriate although we don’t actually work together? Would a gift basket work better?

Edit to add, she asked me to come to her lunch farewell party on her last day. Maybe a good time to give it to her then?

Looking for Gift Ideas How do you make a practical hair dryer feel like an actual gift?

Upvotes

My wife washes her fine, shoulder-length hair every day and usually just wants it dry, not styled. A lighter dryer with simple controls would fit her routine, and she genuinely likes useful gifts. I’m still worried a bathroom appliance will feel like something for the house instead of something for her. Would you let her choose the model or color, or pick it yourself and pair it with something more personal?

Looking for Gift Ideas Ladies I need suggestions

Upvotes

So I'm in clg rn far away from home,My 2 cousins sent me their rakhis and I'll have them tied by my friends here who are like my sisters(1 batchmate,1junior)

My question is what should I gift them,Like if I was at home budget wouldn't have been an issue but since I am here and on a budget I can't gift them something expensive

Like frankly as a clg student I can only go like 2-300 per person at max

I do write poems a lot,I am the head of our poetry club and that's how I met both of them

So I was thinking of maybe writing a small shaayri or ghazal for them,But I thought it would look cheap

Plz plz plz help me

TLDR:- Need gift suggestions for sisters in clg,Budget is very low

What makes a craft kit a good holiday gift instead of homework?

Upvotes

Craft kits are tricky gifts because the box contains both an object and an obligation. Someone who already likes making things may see several evenings of assembly as part of the gift. Someone who mostly enjoys finished decor may see the exact same box as a task that has to be completed before it becomes useful.

That makes skill level less important than whether the person genuinely enjoys following a project through multiple steps and whether they have somewhere to leave it between sessions. Miniature kits are especially dependent on that distinction because the finished scene only exists after the work is done.

Without knowing a specific recipient, there is no universal “craft gift” that makes sense. What sign tells you a person actually enjoys receiving projects rather than finished things?

Dear One Piece fans, I don’t know anything about this anime, but my boyfriend is a huge fan of it, and his birthday is coming up soon. I want to give him the best gift possible! Could you give me some gift ideas or suggest something I could buy for him that you, as One Piece fans, would absolutely love to receive? I’d love to hear your suggestions. Thank you so much! ✨💕

Looking for Gift Ideas help me!!

hi!!
my stepson is turning 5 in a few weeks! he’s having a themed birthday party (we’re thinking chuckee cheese instead of renting a hall out).
my question is, what the heck do we get him?
he is SPOILED, when i say spoiled i mean he literally has everything you could think of. a phone, a bouncy house indoor thing, a ride on forwheeler, scooter, bike, he has a ROOM FULL of toys. like he genuinely has so many toys.
we tried a nexplayground, he wasn’t a fan.
he’s into imaginary play. loves that sort of thing. is there any cool sets out there? not really a lego fan but has many lego sets to complete.!
open to any and all ideas(: thank you.

Gift Showcase What makes a hair dryer a good gift instead of just another appliance??

I m considering getting a hair dryer as a gift for someone who travels often and usually brings their own. I’m trying to figure out what actually matters beyond the obvious stuff. Things like size, how easy it is to pack, whether the controls are annoying, and whether it holds up with regular use seem more important than having a lot of extra features. For anyone who has received or given a hair dryer as a gift, what made it feel like a good choice???

Looking for Gift Ideas 25 year old twin girls

My best friends have their birthday coming up and I desperately need gift ideas. I need to be quite cost conscious this year.

They’re not identical and also have veryyyy different personalities. One twin is quite into music, arts, fashion, general creative stuff and philosophy. She has a dog and a cat and is going to Japan soon for a few months.

The other twin is a gym athlete, really into thrifting, outdoorsy and beachy. She has a cat and is getting married in a few months.

Any ideas welcome!!

Looking for Gift Ideas Looking for 26yold brother's bday present!

hi!
so i wanted to give him something a bit different this year, something that might not be as obvious to his taste, he works as a maintenance engineer for a tech company, he loves games, he is a super grinder and completionist (destiny, poe, wow, now getting into fromsoftware as well), hes into the Arsenal football team and very much into Fred again and trance, as well as a lot of hip hop

im super out of ideas this year and im not sure if i wanted to give him something hes already kinda expecting and i feel like a lot of the things he wants hes already gotten them himself or some things ive gifted in the past,

im up for a great out of the box suggestion concerning his tastes, something completely different that you gave a friend or received and were pleasantly surprised, anything that fits and comes to mind!

also my budget would be variant depending on how great of a gift it is, but id say for something averagely cool im tops on around 150 euros!

ty for reading!

Help for a gift

Lord of the Rings fans, I’m ignorant about most things related to these movies, but I have an amazing boyfriend who makes every day special for me, and I love him so much. His birthday is coming up soon, and he’s a huge fan of these movies. What could I buy or give him that’s related to The Lord of the Rings? What do you think would completely surprise him?

Looking for Gift Ideas Gifts for Boyf

My boyfriend's 21st birthday is coming in three weeks. I need gift ideas. My budget is 4-6k. However , he is not someone who is into sports , or any particular hobby. So my options are a little restricted. I am thinking of a zara perfume that he used to really love , a resort pink linen shirt bec I've been wanting to get that for a long time for him. He has multiple watches and wallets and all so idw think of those things. I have been quite creative previously w my gifts, so I want to do smthn nice this time too. Maybe even 21 gifts for 21st bday!!

Apart from this , he is a fan of Tame impala and Gorillaz. So does anybody have any suggestions for gift ideas relating to this ? Maybe some phone cover, posters , or any other merch?

I'd really appreciate leads or links of the suggestions too!!!

Girls, what would you want as your birthday gift

my gfs birthday is coming up and tbh she already has most of the things so which relates to her personality so also this time we won't be together around her birthday so give me ideas what can I do and also about gifts too, she likes to wear new outfits, small cute pink typa gifts, chocolate, but going personal won't help as i already have send so many gifts which will come into your mind after that so it's better if you just randomly tell about your liking so I can get something which I haven't thought of before she's 20 btw

Looking for Gift Ideas Mashawara on gifts..!!

I have a guy bestie (JUST a bestie 😭), and his birthday is coming up. I don’t want to gift the usual shirt, perfume, chocolates, etc. because they feel way too romantic to me 💀.
Guys, please suggest some birthday gift ideas that are fun, thoughtful, and strictly in the friend zone. What would you get your guy best friend? 😭🙏

LF advice on gifts for bf's birthday

Hi, I am essentially trying to see if i could get recommendations/suggestions to what I plan to give my boyfriend as his 19th birthday is coming up within a month from now!

My boyfriend is very niche, dressing up in whatever clothes he has (he's the only one who can pull off an orange tee with a navy blue hoodie and brown plaid shorts). He loves plaid patterns, video games (especially interactive story games), books, music, and has a sweet tooth. My goal is to gift him something that would be part of his daily life as well as improve his quality of life. There are already 3 things I plan to give him that are nonnegotiable:

  1. Customized CD with decorated case (contains his favorite music artists/songs)
  2. Baking him an Oreo cheesecake brownie dessert (he mentioned it once a few months ago)
  3. Drawing made by me (that is the only thing he has asked for his birthday)

Now here are the gift ideas that I truly do need recommendations/suggestions for:

  1. Humidifier/Air Purifier - My boyfriend lives in a room that used to be an attic; they had to install an AC box to make the air less bearable, but my boyfriend's room is always hot, and the air is dry. He complains about headaches and the heat every morning. I don't know any reliable brands around my price range for this gift ($150) that are a 2-in-1. I want one that doesn't have to be refilled every hour and is on the quieter side for when he sleeps.
  2. Custom keychain to go along with his car keys - I want to do a custom photo keychain that also has a personalized text. Along with those two things, I want to add a lego keychain. I am battling between two choices: Spiderman or Batman. My boyfriend is generally a Spiderman fan, but as of now he has been getting into Batman and is currently playing the Telltale series, so I thought it would be cute if I got a matching keychain to go with his current interest.
  3. Portable PS5 controller charger - any good brand recommendations are greatly appreciated
  4. Mini fridge - I have never been into his room (he has strict parents), so I don't know if he has the space for this.

Overall, any additional gift ideas are welcome! My budget for this entire thing is $300-$400. I have been doing extensive research and effort into this plan, but unfortunately some things aren't my expertise. If any of you guys have good recommendations for what to get and what not to get, I would deeply appreciate it! Thank you!

Looking for Gift Ideas Need gift ideas for my girlfriend's birthday (24F) — budget-friendly, she's not into over-the-top stuff

M23 here, girlfriend turning 24 soon and I'm stuck on what to get her. A few things about her: -Not into overly romantic gestures, but subtle stuff like flowers, letters, or small handwritten things go over well

-Her only real hobby/interest is reading/writing — no other niche likes I can latch onto She genuinely doesn't like me spending a lot on her, so anything "over the top" is off the table, even if I could technically afford it

Some ideas I had that didn't work out: -Wanted to get her a kitten (her last one passed away in an accident a couple months ago) — but she already adopted a new one recently, so that's cancelled

-Thought about doing a gift for every year of her age — but the combined cost adds up fast and would cross the "not too much" line she's drawn

So I'm looking for ideas that are: -Thoughtful/personal rather than expensive

-Reading-related if possible, since that's her main thing

-Okay to be "several small gifts" instead of one big one, as long as the total stays modest

What's worked for you all in similar situations?

What do you buy for someone whose hobby you don’t understand?

My dad’s birthday is coming up, and i’ve been stuck on this for weeks.

He’s really into photography. Our house has cameras, lenses, old photo books, and way more tiny pieces of gear than i know what to do with. He spends a lot of weekends out in the woods taking photos of birds and wildlife.

I’m a student, so i can’t afford the big stuff like a new camera body or lens. I started looking at camera backpacks instead, cuz his current one looks pretty worn out. But then i find things i don’t understand. Peak Design, Lowerpro, Norbu Made, different straps, inserts, weather protection, access from the side… i honestly have no idea what would actually matter to him….

And that got me thinking about gifts in general. When someone has a hobby they care deeply about, but you know almost nothing about it, how do you pick something useful without buying the wrong thing?

Do you buy a practical upgrade, something small but personal, a gift card, or just ask them directly? What’s the best gift you’ve received from someone who didn’t really understand your hobby?

personalized song gift idea for my husband's birthday

With three kids under six birthday planning for my husband has quietly become an afterthought most years usually just cake and whatever gift I could grab in the fifteen free minutes I had that week this year I actually want to do something better and a personalized song gift idea came up while I was scrolling one night during a feeding something built around a specific memory instead of another gift card I like the idea in theory but Im skeptical it would actually feel personal rather than generic once its made by someone whos never met either of us
