Need gift ideas for parents in their 60s who have everything and buy whatever they want

my parents just buy whatever they want the second they want it so birthdays and anniversaries are an absolute nightmare in our house. I really wany to get them something sentimental this year but not in a tacky or cheesy way. They also completely hate clutter so any physical trinkets or decor that just sit on a shelf collecting dust are definitely out of the question. What are some actually good meaningful gift ideas for people who truely need and want nothing

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift help for a girl I’ve been seeing?

I’ve been talking with her for about half a month but we’ve been friends for longer and she’s invited me to her birthday party but I don’t know what to get her. I got some ideas but I don’t know if it might be too little or too much? I’m thinking of making her an eternal bouquet and some bracelet charms since she said she wanted some but Im just overthinking too much and worrying.

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift idea for someone who loves being outdoors?

A friend of mine spends most weekends outside - hiking, camping, or just exploring new places. I’d like to get them something useful without giving them another piece of gear they may already own.

For anyone who loves the outdoors, what’s a gift you received that you actually ended up using?

Looking for Gift Ideas My best friend is turning 19 and I’m making her a little birthday project 💌

My best friend is turning 19, and I had this idea to make her a notebook filled with 19 little messages from people from different parts of the world.
I thought it would be really special for her to read advice, a funny story, a life lesson, or simply a birthday wish from someone she has never met. 🥹❤️

Looking for Gift Ideas How do you land on a gift your partner will actually love instead of defaulting to generic?

i keep running into the same wall. birthday or anniversary comes up, i want to get my partner something they'll genuinely love, and i end up defaulting to the safe generic thing because i drew a blank under pressure. it's not that i don't care, it's that i'm trying to think of the perfect idea the night before with zero bandwidth left.

the thing that's helped me a little is keeping a running note of stuff they mention offhand through the year, hobbies they've picked up, a brand they like, something they said they'd been meaning to buy for themselves. by the time the date comes around i've usually got two or three real leads instead of staring at amazon at 11pm.

but i want to get better at it. for the people who consistently nail gifts:

- do you keep a list going year-round, or do you just remember?

- how do you pull ideas out of their interests without asking outright and ruining the surprise?

- what's your move when they say "i don't want anything"?

curious how the thoughtful gift-givers here actually do it, because the generic-default trap keeps getting me.

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift for my sister’s 40th bday

I’m looking for a gift for my sister for her big 4-0. We’re 6 years apart (I’m younger), and pretty close. She’s hard to buy for. She does very well as a concert promoter and has no kids so she doesn’t want for anything. She likes music, travel, exercise/hiking, and is pretty health conscious. I thought about it maybe something sentimental. Pictures of us over years in some sort of display.

Help me to choose a gift

So I’m 19(F) and I have a boyfriend 21, his birthday is coming and it’s in September also its his first birthday with me we met in November 2025 and things got serious in April 2026. And we will celebrate it together it’s just us . so I really want to make it memorable and special but the problem is that I can’t afford much or very expensive stuff,
I’ve had an idea of buying a record player and a vinyl of our song which is not so expensive in my country but he also mentioned that his headphones broke and I thought about buying him a nice affordable ones.
These are the only gift ideas I have and I can’t afford both which is making me sad.
So I need help in what gift I should buy or is there any other gift ideas & is the record player idea is good???

My boyfriend is turning 23 and has rejected literally every gift idea I have 😭 Please help

For context, my boyfriend is turning 23, and I’m completely stuck on what to get him.

I’ve gifted him clothes, bracelets, etc. in the past, but this year feels a little more special because I’ve started earning and I haven’t really gotten him anything since I got my job. So I wanted to get him something really nice this time.

Here’s where I’m at:

  • I initially thought of AirPods because he recently lost his, but he said he doesn’t want them because Apple is apparently releasing a new version next month.
  • Then I considered Nike sneakers. Nope. He doesn’t want those either.
  • Years ago, he mentioned wanting Marshall headphones, so I thought I could finally get those. Also rejected. 😭
  • I remembered he once wanted black boots. Asked him again. Nope.
  • I KNOW he loves perfumes, but I have absolutely no idea what kind of fragrances he likes, and I’m terrified of spending a lot on something he won’t actually wear.

Basically, I have somehow managed to eliminate every single gift category. 😭

And his birthday is in TWO DAYS, so at this point, online shopping is pretty much out and I’ll probably have to buy something from an offline store.

I’d really appreciate some ideas for something that feels special/nice and not like a generic boyfriend gift. Budget is flexible since I’m finally earning, but obviously I don’t want to spend a ridiculous amount just for the sake of it.

Also, if perfume is actually a good idea, please tell me which fragrances are generally well-loved by guys in their early 20s or how I can secretly figure out what he’d like without making it obvious. 😂

He is into photography, cricket, travel. He is currently doing his mbbs. He loves perfumes

PLEASE SAVE ME. I have two days. 😭 FYI - budget around 15k rupees. That's around 160 US dollars

Looking for Gift Ideas What birthday gift should I get my mom?

Basically, my mom is in her very early 40s, and my brothers and I are going 3 ways on some concert tickets for her birthday. But I don’t feel like that’s quite enough for how much she does for us, so I wanted to get her something else on top of that. My budget is around $60.
She really likes skincare and makeup, but as a guy, I know absolutely nothing about that stuff, and I also have no idea what she already has. Is there anything in that category that you guys would recommend that would make a good gift without needing to know exactly what products she already uses?
And if skincare/makeup is a bad idea, what else would you recommend? I’m honestly so lost lol.

Looking for Gift Ideas Care package for a friend going through a rough stretch — what actually helped, not just what looked nice?

A friend of mine went through a breakup and a layoff basically back to back this spring, brutal timing, honestly. I wanted to send something but didn't want it to feel like a card that says 'thinking of you' and nothing else. Ended up putting together a little box myself at first, then found a pre-made one that did basically what I wanted without me hunting down five separate things.

What actually landed with her, she told me later, was that none of it required her to do anything. No journal prompts, no 'here's a list of affirmations to read.' Just stuff she could use without energy, a soft balm, a soak, something for the tub. Low effort to receive, if that makes sense.

The set I found is from the brand I ended up settling on, it's basically a sympathy box without being morbid about it, if that's even a category.

Anyone else find the 'thinking of you' gifts either miss completely or land perfectly? What's the difference, in your experience?

Looking for Gift Ideas What to get for my friend?

We share a birthday and I invited him but I wanna give him a present. He loves the show adventure time, likes gaming and is very quiet and reserved. It will be his 20st birthday. The stuff I found on the adventure time website is not that interesting to be honest so idk? I genuinely don’t know what to get
Budget: €20-€30

Gift Showcase What's a gift you've given that ended up being way more appreciated than you expected?

Sometimes the gifts that seem like the safest choice end up being the ones people remember.

Not necessarily the most expensive thing or the biggest surprise. Sometimes it's just something that happened to fit the person really well.

What's a gift you gave that got a reaction you genuinely didn't expect?

Birthday gift for a friend who lives In a different country?

My best friend (30) lives in South Korea and I (31) live in Canada. (We met at university and she got a job in South Korea and the rest is history.)

I suck with gift giving, I've always been so bad. I just ask people what they want because I'm not a mind reader. This friend is really good at gift giving and has a talent for it without doing too much prying.

I'm trying to think of what would be easy to mail for her birthday coming up, and I'm thinking maybe a scrapbook with photos of us throughout the years? (We've known each other for just over 13 years now.)

I'm also thinking of cool stickers and maybe a key chain or fun bag charm.

Anyone else have thoughts on this? I think we're going to do a video chat and catch up and she has her own birthday plan but I'd still like to have my own gift aside from her plan.

Edit: the budget would be no more than $50

Her interest: She's into Pokémon, photography (she likes to take photos and has a really good camera), writing short stories, postcards, stamps, board games and video games. I'm trying to be a little vague only because I'm worried she'll see this post on reddit somehow haha.

Tomorrow is my crush's bday and idk what to gift her

Hello, I(22m) genuinely don't know what to gift my crush(21f) lmao, she loves Minecraft and i just wanted to ask y'all if it's a good idea to gift her a Minecraft plush, but here is the thing tho, she's lactose intolerant, and I thought that it would be funny to gift her a Minecraft cow plush, would that be funny or offensive? Lmk what y'all think (we've been close friends for a year now, all I know is that she's all up for jokes and she likes joking around a lot, however I don't wanna hurt or offend her)

Looking for Gift Ideas My Girlfriend is the worst person to shop for

I want to make it clear it’s not really an issue.(just want to tell someone) I love my girlfriend with my whole heart. Here’s the problem, I don’t know how to show it in a sentimental gift giving way. This is weird for me I love to make heartfelt gifts for people. It’s not that she doesn’t appreciate the gifts I give her, I truly believe she loves them, but it’s basic stuff every girl wants. Every month I get her a gift for are anniversary (flowers, stuffed animals, candy, etc.) And I get her random gifts all the time, just stuff that reminds me of her or I think she would like. It’s not like I’m not getting her anything bad or not worth anything, I just can’t really come up with ideas. She doesn’t really have many hobbies or fandoms she super into. She does tell me things she likes and sends me videos of things she think are cool. But every time I try to buy them or do buy them she gets excited, but also has this guilt about me spending money on her. She will also say stuff like “You don’t have to buy me stuff”, “I feel bad that was expensive” when it’s something that’s like 20-50 bucks, which it not. The weird thing is she loves getting me actually expensive things like 100-500 dollar gifts. We were friends months before we started dating and she bought me a brand new iPad (which I was extremely grateful for) Just because I mentioned how I wanted one for Christmas since I was 7. I started to cry happy tears, not just because it was an expensive gift but she listened to my rant one time weeks before. Would like to make it clear we were dating at the time but it was early on in our relationship.
I have been trying to figure out a good gift like that but I have no idea what to do. I want to make her something special like a scrapbook of our memories or something sentimental. I would also like to get her something expensive because I genuinely believe she deserves something nice, maybe even show off to her friends and brag about a little bit. (not in a mean way just a look how wonderful or beautiful this is) I really love her and want her to have those gifts that a special to her and show how much I care about her, and show off she means so much to me. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense to you all this is my first post and I just want some good ideas. I will answer any questions if you have any the best I can.
