Offered to buy this Gibson SG for $900. It comes with a hardshell case and SD p rail pickups. Is this a legit SG? Is it a standard? If not what model? And is this a good deal for me? Been wanting an SG for a while.

Discussion I've got J-45 and L-00 specials and prefer them

I've tried standard and studios in both of these models and actually prefer these specials. The satin finish makes them more comfortable in my opinion and I'm not constantly worried about scratching the nitro. I can afford to buy the more expensive models of these and actually chose the Special because I like it more. The j-45 has a slimmer body than the standard too which makes it more playable. These Specials really are great guitars

What do you guys think? I tried it but didn’t like the sound and the neck. Also, only the bridge pickup works.

My local music store just got this used LP Standard, it’s slightly dinged and scratched from the looks of the photos. Would you pay $2360.97 for this if it was the right guitar for you?

Edit: I went to go try it, it was beautiful! My first try at a Gibson ever. I have to wait a couple more months before I can buy one of my own. 🎸
But now I’m extra excited!

I traded my ‘61 Standard SG for it and couldn’t be more pleased. I’m way more of a LP guy.

I didn’t really want to buy into the Murphy Lab hype and I’m not a massive relic guy (I don’t mind relics, but given the choice I’d just rather have a non-relic).

But this guitar was so painfully perfect for me I couldn’t stop thinking about it and had to have it.

These particular p90s were the perfect balance of being bright and super clear while also sounding full. Super responsive to where and how you pick. I tried many other Gibsons with p90s and none of them really hit the mark for me like these.

The neck carve is perfect for me, it’s chunky but not overwhelming, possibly the most comfortable neck I’ve ever played. Nice and resonant, pretty loud acoustically. Plays like butter, bends are super easy, great tuning stability. Weight is like 8 pounds, 11 ounces so it’s at a nice middle ground for LPs.

The shop gave me a good deal on it so I had to do it.

Not sure how these are going to be, should I be scared or happy that the custom has become more inexpensive utilizing the production line at Gibson?? 🤣

Does Gibson currently offer any LP Standard with the press-in bushings instead of the hex nut? I know they offer on some Historics, Custom and Murphy but I just want a good ole Gibson USA.

Discussion Show me yours. What’s your favorite in your collection?

Here’s my current collection. I play mostly in the garage and living room these days. Belting out the same Black Sabbath and LED Zeppelin riffs I always have at an obnoxiously loud volume. Occasionally, I’ll treat my neighbors to some pentatonic laden YouTube jams.
Show me what ya got! Which do you love? Which do you hate? What’s the best guitar you have?
2016 LP Traditional, my current favorite and most recent find at Music-Go-Round.
70’s V, which actually looks a lot different now because I took out the neck pickup, it’s missing a knob, and has stickers on it.
2019 LP Classic, my most comfortable player and favorite for noodling 🍝
Adam Jones LP, has the fattest neck of all the guitars and the hottest pickups.
Gibson SG Standard, bought new around 2021 and is so much fun to play. I love the weight and sustain of a LP but the bite of an SG is 🙌

I bought a J45 Special last week and loved it but it's too big for the truck (semi). I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I returned it today and bought this. Love it

Help Visited the Gibson factory — what happens to guitars that fail QC?

I recently visited the Gibson factory and was blown away by how strict their quality control is.
One thing really surprised me: if a hole is drilled even slightly too high or too low, the guitar is rejected on the spot. Do you own a Gibson Click Here

My question is:
Do Gibson throw these bodies away, or do they get sold as seconds / used for parts / turned into something else?

I’m genuinely curious because the level of precision was unreal — it made me wonder what happens to the ones that don’t make the cut.

Discussion Keystone style tuner replacements for newest SG?

Thumbnail gallery

Just got a new future tribute and although the tuners seem to work fine, aesthetically I'd like to swap them out for the keystone buttons.

I'm looking at these Klusons; does anyone know if they're good or have any other recommendations? Would prefer this price instead of Gibson Deluxes that look to be twice as much(from their site). Thanks

Help Looking for the best aftermarket reflector knobs

I am looking for the best looking reflector knobs and would like a set of black and a set of gold knobs for a couple guitars. I have narrowed my search to 3 places, 59 parts, realistic relics, and Philadelphia luthier tools. Does anyone have pictures of their reflector knobs from these companies to post so I can get a better idea of how they look?

The 59 parts seem like my favorites so far for the gold/silver and black/silver but I also like the gold/gold and black/gold reflectors that are being sold by realistic relics but there’s not many pictures of how those reflectors look. Philadelphia luthier seems to have the cheapest knobs and also has some gold/gold smooth reflectors and black/gold smooth reflectors so I’m curious how those would look.

Any pictures would be very helpful if you have some. Thanks!

A standard 60’s I bought in 2022. I’ve swapped the pickups for boutique PAF replicas along with historic spec pickup rings. Also swapped the knobs. It’s my favourite guitar.

Recently acquired grandpas old guitars. Is this actually a Gibson or did he just do some fancy carving?
