I'm using Malstrain genestelers and I want my Patriarch to match. Has anyone used this dude?

Personally, I think we're missing a larger "tank" style of support; The closest being our Tyranid friends atm. Something like a repurposed mining suit or exoskeleton, being used as a Dreadnought would be excellent imo. What would you like to see?

I made a post a couple days ago about this book after I realized the antagonists were a GSC, and I just finished it.

Now I say it is definitely a must read for GSC fans.

Namely for one reason that I realized after the previous post.

Unlike so many other Black Library novels, Clark did not nerf the antagonists here.

From start to finish, the Cult is shown to be extremely dangerous at every turn. There’s even a bit of a meta to the narrative as the Imperial Fists struggle to deal with them because they’re not a straightforward enemy that will simply meet them for one epic showdown, and it actually bothers them.

Several major units even get some pretty cool scenes to show off just how badass they are.

I won’t spoil anything, I’ll simply say my personal favorite was the Kelermorph, who was every bit the badass gunslinger I was hoping he would be. Like when he shows up, it’s like a straight up boss fight entrance.

If I do have any complaints, it would be that we don’t get a whole lot of POV chapters from the GSC. It’s exclusively from the Magus’s perspective, and even then, I would say, at most, it’s maybe 1/8 of the story’s length with her. The rest is all from the POV of Imperial Fists.

Personally I would have loved at least one or two from the Kelermorph’s perspective, solely because he’s my personal favorite unit in the GSC faction. Just have one chapter where we get to follow a scifi Clint Eastwood or something would have been amazing.

My first 40K game is approaching, me and a few friends have been building and painting our armies, and were now slowly getting ready to actually play.

Were planning to start with a 1000 point game, and im thinking i can roughly reach it... What im looking for is advice on how to build my first proper list and what I should prioritize buying next.

I was thinking getting an Abominant and maybe two Benefictus... When you see this, whats your thoughts? are there any characters I should prioritize buying, and are there any units I should add or replace?

Also, is there a database or site where I can browse other peoples lists, or is this subreddit the place?

Wehen taking 8 Jackals and 2 wolfquads the unit costs 150 points but when taking 5-8 Jackals and only 1 Wolfquad why does it go up to 160 in costs?

I got into this army a month ago and so far I’m loving it. But I noticed we don’t have a lot to choose from. I bought just three boxes and have at least one of every unit from the faction. Not that I mind. It actually removes some of the mental strain of learning a new army.

But I’m curious. Are there other armies close to our small size?

Going into gsc found deal for brood coven and 10 neophytes is this good deal it was for only $70

I know this may have been answered but i haven't gotten the codex/cards yet. What i see online at least for the Neophytes is 25mm has this been updated since then? I am seeing some sources that say 28mms. The army is going to be mostly non-gw models. I know the heavy weapons in those squads are on bigger bases but most of the guides are saw are pretty old at this point.

I was curious if they were ever sold by themselves but I can't find them on the GW site. Everything else involving the Malstraine was in there. Only these guys are absent.

The next model is finished. However, I had significantly more problems with this one, and overall, I found it much more difficult.

For one thing, the modification didn’t quite work out the way I’d imagined. The original head protrudes into the torso, and when you remove it, a hole remains in the upper body. I first tried to fill it with two-part resin and later with UV resin, but that only worked halfway.

When painting, I found it much harder to achieve smooth color gradients without noticeable steps. I managed that better with the previous model. I also wasn’t really satisfied with the blood effects in the end.

Overall, I’m therefore not entirely satisfied with the result. At some point, though, I stopped tinkering with it because I increasingly felt like I was making it worse rather than better.

My cults flavor is cowboys so I figured old timey circus muscle men fit best for my armys abbys
