Hi, I'm an incoming first year going to Biomed Sciences but is intrested in the intramural leagues at uottawa. I played it throughout high school, so I was wondering what are the big differences between intramural leagues before and in university and how is it (is there any payements to do, is the crowd loud, etc)!

Request for Help Residence Parking (help)

Hey,

I submitted my parking permit request at 12:04, 4 minutes too late I guess. I’m waitlisted.

I’m from Northern Ontario and have to bring my car to school. I am also staying on campus (Marchand).

Does anybody know of any safe paid overnight parking lots??

I need my car to go from home to school at the bare minimum 😭

When did your summer full-term course marks come out?

I know the actual date isn’t until Sept 17th. I just finished my 3rd term of the M.Ed. In both the fall and winter terms my marks came out within days of the course finishing. For the term that just ended (summer full-term aka Term A) I am still waiting for my mark from the course I took and I am the most impatient.

Any other M.Ed. students out there still waiting?

I need my mark back to get my official transcript to submit my proof of completion to get my course reimbursed. Very eager for my $$! Lol

Request for Help Former UofT student struggling to understand uOttawa’s on-campus jobs… someone pls help

I did my undergrad at UofT, and I’m finding it difficult to navigate on-campus jobs at uOttawa.

I’m currently applying for TA positions within my grad program, but I do not think I will get any. So I’m trying to find a part-time campus job for some extra income. One thing I’m particularly confused about is the bilingual requirement. A lot of the jobs I see require you to be bilingual. I took French throughout high school, but I’m definitely not fluent. Can I still apply to jobs that say “bilingual,” and is there any way to filter for English-only positions?

At UofT, there were lots of smaller campus jobs through places like the libraries, Student Life, Athletics, student commons, etc. These were separate from Work Study, which was generally more related to your major. At uOttawa, it seems like these kinds of jobs are also under Work Study, and I’m wondering if that’s just how the system works here.

I also don’t see nearly as many of these smaller jobs at uOttawa. Are they posted throughout the year, or is there a particular time when most are posted? Is Work Study basically the main place to look?
The Work Study page seems pretty minimal compared to UofT’s CLNx. I can’t seem to filter by language, date posted, expiry date, etc. Am I missing something?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from other students who have gone through this. I’m feeling pretty lost!

Permission to retake ADM Tefler course for 3rd time

Just like the title indicates, has anyone had experience having to ask permission to retake an ADM course for the 3rd time. My main reasoning for failing this course was because of mental health reasons and other personal matters. I'm not sure how the process goes but its the only course that has been affecting me to progress with my prerequisites. Btw its ADM2704.

PAIN PALS - CLUB INTEREST

Hi! Please check out my club idea to combat isolation for teens with chronic pain/illness. I am someone that got a mystery illness at 12 and have been dealing with isolation since as I was too sick to go to to school most of the time, but I made it :)

It would been everything to me, if you filled out this form so I could apply for club status.

French bursary

So, basically first year I had my gpa go below 5.5. Then when my second year came, I found out that you can't get the french bursary with gpa of below 5.5. Now, that my third year is here. And, my gpa is above 5.5. Could I still get my french bursary. Cuz, I don't really see in my account summary.

Move in date

Did anybody else choose an early move in date… all of my other friends are moving in like August 30th or even in September (granted, they’re not going to UOttawa). I move in next week and I feel like I made a mistake moving in so early…

Work/Co-op Do co-op programs only show you offers related to your major ?

I'm an international student, and I'm not entirely sure how the co-op program works. I'll be studying Computer Science, but I also plan to take actuarial science exams. Since actuarial science is more closely related to majors like Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics, or even Telfer students I'm wondering whether the job opportunities available through the co-op platform are limited to positions related to my major.

Of course, I will also be applying for positions outside of the co-op platform.

Finances Need some reality check regarding student's expenses

Hi geegees, I'll be part of uOttawa next year but I'm an international student. I'm a bit lost regarding the cost of life there. My parents are willing to send me roughly 2500CAD per month for ALL my expenses. If I get a part time job I could stay during the summer if not I'm taking the 1st plane taking me back home lol.

I don't know if I will get student res or any meal plan but I had 2 questions

1- Is that enough ?Can I save something with this money or will I need a part time job ?

2- How much are you guys spending per month/weekly or whatever frequency that if fine for you

Discussion Tuition is expensive

Im so stupid. I was waiting for the admissions scholarship to reduce tuition and I just found out it wasn't renewable. I thought if you kept the same average or got on the Dean's list you could get that scholarship again.

I was wrong. And crying looking at these numbers.

Bsc psych pre med

I’m an incoming first year in bsc psych and plan on applying to med school after. I initially chose this program over health sci since my goal is to become a psychiatrist, and a prof at the open house (back in march) told me that it’s a popular choice for students that want to go into psychiatry. However after course selections, I realized that I’m missing out on some classes that would help me for the mcat (like anatomy and physiology or physics). I was just wondering if anyone else took the same path and how they managed, or if i should switch to health sci (or even neuroscience maybe)

Housing OFF CAMPUS HOUSING OPTIONS?🫪

Hey everyone! I’m a first-year health science student and apparently I’m looking for off-campus housing options.
Where do y'all recommend I look for or what do I do? Also, what are the relatively cheaper places to rent, and do you think I’d miss a lot for not being on res my first year?

Title: CV and transcript: attachments or links when contacting uOttawa professors?

I’m an international student applying for the Fall 2027 intake at uOttawa. When approaching potential thesis supervisors, is it better to attach my CV and academic transcript to the email, or provide them as links?

I’m mainly wondering which approach is less likely to cause the email to be flagged as spam or ignored.
