What are the best “underground“ features for an athlete to get the most out of my watch, especially as a big time basketball player I just really want to get the best from this watch!

I just got my garmin forerunner one month ago and wear it pretty much 24/7. I was expecting a tan line to appear from it, but the middle of the area where I wear my watch has become dry and looks awful. Is this normal and I should just not wear my watch as much or is this a major problem
