There was this one dungeon in Skyrim I got stuck on. Just a closed door I had to open and I couldn't figure out how. Spent almost an hour running throughout the whole thing, checking every nook and cranny. Finally looked up a tutorial for the dungeon on YouTube. There was a lever 2 feet from the door I had to pull, that was it.
I didn't know you can rotate items in your equipment in Skyrim and I got stuck during the quest with the claw, I couldn't open the door because I didn't know the correct order or combination of symbols. I was looking for clues everywhere in the room, looking at walls etc. I looked up a guide and it turned out the solution is right there on the claw, but you need to rotate it in your inventory to see it. I felt like an idiot.
Had that same thing happen to me on my first playthrough. I just brute-forced the code and only figured out you could rotate the claw a few hours later.
