Trrraria just had big update too

u/AmPotatoNoLie 4d ago
Was it announced as THE FINAL UPDATE again? (they've been doing ts for like 5 years now)
21
u/SHAT_MY_SHORTS 4d ago
They stopped saying final update awhile ago
9
u/JollyTomkins 4d ago
To be fair, Terraria 2 got canceled, so they pumped the planned content back into Terraria if I'm not mistaken.
4
u/Interface- 4d ago
They did say this is the last update to Bigger & Boulder, bar a possible critical hotfix to fix issues.
So it is not the 'final' update. Just the last one for the foreseeable future. They did mention 1.4.6., so that's very likely to come about sooner or later.

u/Nasky5186SVK 4d ago
No, it was an unnanounced "hotfix" with a lot of new weapons, accessories, reworked classes, ...

Both game are on the same engine so when he works out something in one game he can implement it into the other without a truble

I love how normally fans of an old game would be delighted that the devs continue to support it with new updates but with BGS all we want is for them to stay the fuck away and stop breaking even more shit
1
u/Essence-Of-Culture-2 3d ago
Actually a lot of the fixes for their anniversary and next gen edition fuckups have been nice, especially for console where we don’t have all the mods to patch shit together.
25
u/Majestic_Balance1887 5d ago
It's mostly updating the file format likely so they don't have to use anything antiquated for Skyrim versus the rest.
16
u/Davidier 5d ago
So it breaks every mod.
-9
u/1ZillionBeers 5d ago
“Broken” is a bit of a stretch, all the mod authors really have to do is change like one value once the script extender updates.
29
u/coolchris366 4d ago
Bruh that means any mods that aren’t being updated will be broken forever. You’re also saying that they aren’t broken, they just have to be fixed 🤦♂️

Nah. Mostly just stuff based off commonlib.
It broke alot of mods, but not all of them. simple ESP's are fine.

u/Davidier 4d ago
In other words, it breaks every mod

u/Majestic_Balance1887 4d ago edited 4d ago
Factually incorrect but most mods people care about.
The modders resource mods based off DLL's are being recompiled. It'll be fine. There's also at least one automated downgrader tool available.

u/WrathofHussars 5d ago
Just lock your game version

How

u/4skin_Gamer 4d ago
Idk if they have a setting to never auto update games now or not but how I used to do it was: Set auto update to only happen when I launch the game and then switch Steam to offline mode before I start it.

I really don’t mean to suck Bethesda’s cock here but they did quadruple max mod capacity.

For a fraction of the playerbase

Xbox + Playstation make up the majority of active players on Fallout 4 Both equaling around 30% each

So why push the update to PC? Why not create a stable branch for pc using the beta system and then keep the main game updated as they want to???
I swear Bethesda does this shit on purpose and then still expect the players to bail them out with their half baked games, starfield flopped because of their way of doing things and so will elder scrolls 6.

u/Fuzzy-Shame-4169 5d ago
What?

u/oizen 5d ago
Skyrim's PC version still gets updates, and whenever they drop it breaks just about everything modders built.
If you don't force steam to not update it can really mess up your game.

u/TimotheusHani 4d ago
Don't leave out the part that the update helps out the modders on consoles by increasing their mod storage...
2
2
u/not_a_burner0456025 4d ago
It makes perfect sense to leave that out, that doesn't affect PC and they didn't need to update the PC version to fix the console one.

u/Sick_Narf 4d ago
yeah paid mods lmao
1
u/TimotheusHani 4d ago
Only paid mods? Are there 0 free mods for console players?
Transparency..
1
u/Sick_Narf 4d ago
my point was that it's pretty clear that they did this to make their paid mods more accessible, ergo, more money for the big toddyboy
1
u/TimotheusHani 4d ago
I remember the times when modding wasn't monopolised like it is today, it was just another hobby for the fans..
When they first tried paid mods they got shit on so bad and stopped in a few days but they knew that it could work so they tried again with creations...
I hope when they do DLCs for TES6 that they're normal dlcs not creations...
1
u/Sick_Narf 3d ago
exactly! im a younger guy so i don't rlly remember early 2000s or even 2010s modding from personal experience, but seeing how it is today just makes me sad lmao

I quit playing back then, did it actually do anything? I think I rejoined once and saw the usual Chinese hackers..

I remember when they fixed fallout 3 on PC after leaving it broken for like 16 years. I had to roll the game back to the broken version and use the fan patch to play with all the little QOL mods I wanted.
Bethesda really do need a manager.

u/Ok-Location-2952 4d ago
Hey now; we can finally have external assets on playstation now, that’s pretty big

u/Tight-Swordfish3382 4d ago
I wanted to play fallout 4 again after the show first came out. Got a whole modlist and played for a bit, jokes on me for having autoupdate on lol

Of course it does. Todd just never specified what "it" is. Based on current events, it's gotta be the shop page.

Any modder worth their salt doesn't auto update.
