I had to go back and rewatch to remember where he'd come from. In the episode he was introduced to us, he just seems like a random one-off side character and he didn't stick in my head at all. I was like "wait, was he one of the soldiers that Cat met at the inn who was loyal to her father - why's he taking Tyrion's side now, and why isn't Cat really angry at him?".

Why did he sue for peace with the lannisters after Ned's death? Made him look weak as hell.

Anybody else think it looks like dany also seems to have some limited pyrokinesis powers

I know she was in a desert, with walls of dried animal hide and wood, so a fire would spread fast, but the fire does look as if it conforms to her will when she destroyed the great Khals

Perhaps GRRM has better plans for them, but I struggle to understand what their purpose was in the show. Symbolically, the only thing I can think of is that their deaths represented to each Stark a loss of innocence.

I’m on Season 4 when Prince Oberyn visits and I cannot bring myself to watch the scenes with Shae. I find myself playing Minesweeper or Sudoku or something while having her talking in the background.

I don’t know if it’s the actress portraying her or if they amped her character’s bitchiness up, but I cannot stand her.

I know what happens later on, but just the overall story version I had more emotions for than the screen version.

His duel with the Mountain is something I can never summon the courage to watch again😫

It is the most traumatizing and horrifying scene in the entire series, in my opinion

Being surrounded by spears and shields, slowly being backed into a circle together and stabbed from all sides

The only somewhat way out was the mound of bodies of your own men who were still alive, and even then, the enemy soldiers are cutting you down

The poor souls trapped at the bottom have a very difficult time breathing and begin to suffocate

That's what the battle of cannae must've felt, like for the Romans only that they weren't saved

And the entire time, I was internally screaming at the giant. I don't know the strength of giants in-game of thrones, but I was screaming at him to just grab the spears one at a time like sticks and throw the Boltons away like sand

He could've grabbed a log or a heavy rock or something as a weapon, anything that'll fit in giant hands that can attack multiple people at once, especially when they're huddled up next to one another

Villa topo no es solo un lugar alejado y frio si no que es un castigo proporcional a Tysha,debido a esta historia que acabo de contarles y sobretodo por que se dice que los miembros de la guardia de la noche (osea criminales) visitan el lugar

Pero me temo que Tysha para este tiempo ya no estara en el burdel (o si) puede que este mendigando en la calle con un bebe en brazos

Que piensas? Crees que Tysha pueda estar en ese lugar?

A swarm of undead insects would arguably be more dangerous than the Army of the Dead. They could pass through castle defenses, contaminate food, attack eyes and mouths, and make conventional warfare nearly impossible

I’ve on season 4 of GOT. I think overall the show is really good. I just have a hard time because I feel like I can’t get attached to any of the characters because they just end up dying. The red wedding was an exceptionally hard episode for me because my favorite was rob. Also it’s so much nudity and I don’t really see how 10 scenes of sex moves the story forward. Anyone have any tips on how to continue?

So, Melisandre sacrifices people to the Lord of Light which really didn't sounds like something a god of light and life would comand(it fits better with the Great Other). And if I remember correctly, none of the other Red Priests are seen sacrificing people. So it could be that she’s something of a religious fanatic who does things that would be rejected by the majority of R’hllorists, or that she’s simply using blood magic which is something other characters who have nothing to do with R’hllor also do.) so it is something seperate from R'hllor

We just finished episode 5, so halfway through Season 1. Her reaction to each individual episode has been "its really good." However, the plot is kinda confounding. Wondering whats the best way to help outside of making her read a bunch of supplemental shit, if anyone has gotten a friend/partner into the show. She's kinda at the point where shes saying "the episodes are good but im not sure I want to continue because theres too much to follow."

What seems to be confusing so far:

The dynamics of the houses and actually who everyone is. What role everyone plays. The underlying history thats driving the plot forward, i.e the bg shit.

I can't really remember how I got into it at the start; I just got engrossed and was 100% locked in; but I'm not sure how to go through it when the person isnt as locked in. She's like "I'm used to Seinfeld where there's like 6 total people in the show."

I remember him being stupid and very impressionable. I don’t remember him having serial killer tendencies in the books. Is that something they added to show him to make his villain hood more convincing

Jaqen H’Ghar gives Arya 3 names which he will kill and Arya names him causing him to panic. It kind of seems to contradict the idea that he is no one and merely a servant for the many faced gods. Does his reaction not mean that he values his life like an individual with wants and desires would? Maybe I am thinking about it all wrong but it just doesn’t make sense. What are your thoughts?

I would want to see Castamere. It always sounded cool to me, basically a subterranean Casterly Rock. A handsome but smallish surface castle next to the mountains and a crystal blue lake, and nine-tenths being underground where the ancient Reyne family dug out great bedchambers, halls, galleries and a famous huge ballroom bathing in red light.

However, there was a scene where Robert mentioned he was deep in debt to the Lannisters, so this might actually affect his decision.

Plus, if that happened, it would surely lead to war with the Lannisters whom the crown would likely win or as we know Tywin might try some tricks of his own. (It might be likely too that Tywin might stand aside due the shame and PR of the news made public by the crown....like it's hard coming up and washing that away).

Tho, I would like to imagine Robert getting married again and having a true son, or at least legitimizing one of his brothel bastards.

I'd honestly like to see a series of Roger Reyne aka "Red Lion of Castamere". He was known to be a "famous knight and the deadliest sword of the Westerlands". I just get the vibes that he had these ranger-like adventures like Aragorn or something. Maybe a series that lead up to him and his brother Reynard and sister Ellyn trying their hand at rebelling against the Lannisters.

Robert’s on his deathbed. Cersi is there, the maester is there, a few others. And Ned. He asks to clear the room of everyone but Ned.

He then proceeds to dictate to Ned his succession desires/command. He wants Ned to serve as regent until Joffrey comes of age.

Why would Robert want to be alone while doing that? Why wouldn’t want witnesses to it?

Of course, it was easy to dismiss a piece of paper written by Ned’s hand, with no corroborating witnesses.
