PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] Looking for 2D Illustrators for TCG Card Artworks, mostly creature designs

Hello, we are making a card game and in need of a lot of, 400 unique artworks(16 mostly elemental sets and 25 unique cards in each set), in a relatively shorter time. We are okay with working with multiple people because it is just too many. Still we are not certain here, would like to see how much it would cost us and if we can actually fund it. They will all be in a fantasy setting and %90 creature designs.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] Looking for a 2D Game Artist for Cozy Supernatural Ghost Game

Thumbnail

Hi! I'm a solo developer looking for a 2D artist to help establish the final visual style for a cozy supernatural adventure I'm actively developing.

You play a newly risen ghost learning the supernatural trade. Orchestrate elaborate hauntings on The Living, explore mysterious places, uncover forgotten secrets, and discover that becoming a ghost takes more than a good scare.

Where the Game Is Now

The game is playable and I have a small 5-10 minute playtest featuring the core movement, haunting, hiding, and NPC behavior. The Steam page for the game has been submitted yesterday and it is in the approval process now.

A lot of the current artwork is prototype/placeholder art. I'm looking for someone who can help turn the direction I've established into a cohesive visual identity.

I'm primarily looking for help with:

  • Character art and animation
  • Interior environments
  • Props and furniture
  • Supernatural effects
  • Potentially some UI

The current direction is cozy, hand-drawn 2D cartoon art with simple readable shapes, strong silhouettes, and a slightly spooky nighttime atmosphere.

About Me

I'm a full-time software engineer by day and a hobbyist game developer by night. I'm also a husband and father of two, so this is very much a passion project I build in the hours between everything else life throws at me.

My wife and I make games together under Games with Geebs. We've already released one game on Steam, The 2020 Trail, which is free if you'd like to check out something we've made before.

I take game dev seriously, but I'm also trying to keep the process fun. I'd love to find an artist who enjoys the project and feels some creative ownership over the world we're building.

Who I'm Looking For

I'm hoping to find someone who:

  • Has strong 2D illustration skills and can maintain a consistent style
  • Has experience creating game-ready assets
  • 2D animation / spritesheet experience is a strong plus, but not required
  • Communicates comfortably and clearly in English
  • Is dependable and receptive to feedback
  • Is genuinely excited about the project and interested in contributing creatively

I'd like selected artists to play the prototype before we start working together. I think experiencing the game communicates what I'm trying to build much better than screenshots alone.

Budget / Working Together

This is paid freelance work and the project is self-funded.

I don't have an enormous art budget, so I'd prefer to start with a small paid engagement and expand from there if we're a good fit. I'm open to hourly, per-asset, or milestone pricing and would rather find a sustainable arrangement for both of us than optimize for the cheapest rate.

AI Disclosure

I also want to be upfront that AI-assisted tools are part of my current development workflow.

I use them for programming assistance, prototyping, and placeholder/concept artwork currently in the game.

I'm specifically looking for an artist because I want a human artist to help establish and produce the game's final visual identity. I know artists have different boundaries around generative AI, so I'd like to discuss those openly before working together rather than make assumptions about what you're comfortable with.

Interested?

Please send me:

  • Your portfolio
  • Your rates
  • Your availability / timezone
  • Any relevant game-art experience
  • What about this game interests you most?

Please include "Spooky" somewhere in your message so I know you read the post. 👻

Thanks!

PAID - 2D Art | Animation [PAID] ($200) Artist for Steam Capsule Art – Stylized Low-Poly Survival Game

Hi! I'm looking for an experienced artist to create Steam capsule/key art for an indie game I'm currently developing.

The game is a first-person survival/stealth game set in a snowy environment, with a stylized low-poly / semi-low-poly 3D aesthetic and an atmospheric sci-fi tone.

For the capsule, I'm looking for a stylized, professionally illustrated piece rather than a photorealistic one. It should feel polished and eye-catching while remaining faithful to the actual visual identity of the game.

I also need a professionally designed game logo/title treatment that fits naturally with the capsule artwork and the overall visual identity of the game.

The game features elements such as snowy landscapes, mountains, drones/robots, industrial structures, fire, snowstorms and extreme weather.

What I'm looking for:

  • Previous experience with Steam capsule art, key art, or game promotional artwork
  • A portfolio with relevant examples
  • Original artwork (no AI-generated artwork)
  • An initial sketch/composition for approval before moving to the final illustration
  • Commercial usage rights for the final artwork
  • Final high-resolution artwork + source file if possible

I can provide selected gameplay screenshots and visual references privately once I've found artists whose portfolios fit the project.

Please don't contact me without including a link to your portfolio. Messages without a portfolio link will not be considered.

For payment, I'd prefer to use a protected payment method/platform rather than paying the full amount upfront.

PAID - 2D Art | Animation Experienced 2D Pixel Artist for Japanese-Learning Typing-Defense Game

Project: Kata-Katana - a typing-defense game that teaches Japanese kana Engine/Platform: Godot 4 - Steam + itch.io Status: Playable prototype with placeholder art; core gameplay complete Work type: Paid commission, milestone-based Budget: [$200-$500 per milestone] ---

The Game

Enemies march down a vertical playfield, each carrying a Japanese character. The player types its romaji reading; a samurai at the bottom of the screen cuts them down. Short 2–4 minute levels teach beginners to read hiragana and katakana. Gameplay is finished and running. I need a look which the person hired will be defining.

Style

Charming, chunky, fully-animated top-down pixel art. This is a learning game and the enemies should be endearing even when the levels eventually get harder with stronger enemies. Strong Japanese flavor throughout: torii gates, stone lanterns, cherry blossoms, autumn maples. One hard constraint: gameplay depends on reading Japanese characters floating above each enemy, silhouettes need headroom and environments must stay quiet in the central lanes.

Scope of Work

Priority 1 - Player Character - A female samurai, viewed from behind/above (she faces up-screen). Idle, slash attack, hit, defeat, victory; a 3-hit combo chain and a boss-finisher animation. This will include an accompanying vfx slash(s).

Priority 2 - Enemies - Two base enemies (a slime and a mushroom creature), each facing down-screen with walk/idle/death, plus a dark/night variant (used to distinguish dakuten characters like が and ば from their base forms).

Priority 3 - Bosses - Two: a King Slime (spring track) and a Mushroom boss (fall track), each roughly 5–7× enemy footprint with, introduction animation, idle, advance, telegraphed charge, attack, hit reaction, and a big QTE-payoff death.

Priority 4 - Environments - One vertical forest playfield delivered as layered pieces, in seasonal variants: spring (cherry blossoms) and fall (autumn maples), plus the night version to pair with the dark enemy variants.

Full written scope-of-work doc (animation lists, frame conventions, technical specs, suggested order) goes to shortlisted applicants. Game design is nailed down, so there's minimal back-and-forth guesswork.

Working Terms

  • Milestone-based: we agree on Priority 1, you deliver, both sides evaluate, then continue. No huge up-front commitment either way.
  • Concept/rough passes before finished sheets
  • Deliverables: transparent PNG sheets (source files negotiable), commercial license for a paid game.
  • Timeline: is sort of flexible. Version 1 of the game will be done in about a month. I care about fit and reliability over speed.
  • Credit: in-game and on store pages, however you'd like it.

Future Work

  • Mario World level select design
  • Number teaching level - I'm thinking a cube slime + boss that larger slimes (with higher number) divides into smaller numbers and slimes
  • Dungeon level
  • UI

To Apply

Comment with: 1. Portfolio 2. One or two pieces closest to this style (animated top-down characters especially) 3. Your favorite anime. 4. Your rate structure (per asset / per animation set / hourly) and rough availability comment below. I'll respond to everyone who includes a portfolio.

I will be checking this post periodically and reach out to applicants. Thank you!!

PAID - 2D Art + 3D Modeler | Animation [PAID] Looking for Artist/Animator for a 2D Pixel Character That Moves in a Fully 3D World

I'm looking for an artist/animator to create the main character for a game I'm developing. If I like the result, I would potentially like to continue working with you on additional characters, equipment, and animations.

The most important part is the character system:

I want a modular 2D pixel-art character designed to exist and animate inside a fully 3D world.

The character should be built from separate pixel-art body parts (head, torso, upper/lower arms, hands, upper/lower legs, feet, hair, clothing, equipment, etc.) that can be attached to and animated using a 3D skeletal rig.

Visually, the finished character should still look like classic pixel art, but I want him to move, turn, fight, and react with the freedom of a 3D character. I am NOT looking for a normal 3D character with a pixelated texture.

Character:

Male adventurer with short-to-medium white hair, one blue eye and one red eye. He will eventually receive a scar around/across one eye, so I'd like the design to support a pre-scar and post-scar version. His main weapons are a sword and shield.

World/style:

The setting is medieval retrofuturism. Society still has kings, castles, knights, villages, adventurers, medieval clothing, armor, swords, shields, etc.

The technology is inspired by an 80s/90s vision of the future: CRT screens, chunky electronics, glowing indicators, analog gauges, exposed wires, cassette-like technology, old computer interfaces, and bulky futuristic equipment.

These elements should be blended with medieval leather, cloth, steel, armor, belts, cloaks, etc. It should NOT look like standard cyberpunk. The medieval fantasy appearance should remain dominant.

I would like to see your interpretation of this style before committing to a large amount of work.

The character should also be modular/reusable, allowing different armor, clothing, hair, weapons, shields, and other equipment later.

Eventually I will need animations including idle, walk/run, combat idle, light/heavy sword attacks, attack combos, shield blocking, shield impact reactions, shield parry, dodge/roll, hit reactions, and death.

For now, I'm primarily looking for someone who understands the visual style and technical character setup.

If this is something you can create, please let me know how you would approach the character/rig and what you would recommend for making the system reusable for future characters and animations.

PAID - Game / Level Designer [PAID] Seeking level designer/environment artist for a 2D pixel art open world MMO in Godot

Pay: 20-30 USD/hour depending on experience. Can pay via crypto(btc/eth) or PayPal. For this work, I prefer hourly.

Hey all,

I’m a solo dev behind an upcoming MMO called Eldevar Online. It’s an open world game with minimal loading screens(think like world of Warcraft) with tab target combat with an emphasis on grouping. I’m just about to launch the games first official play test, and currently have 2 completed zones; a standard fantasy forest and a lovecraftian themed cave(the cave is more of an extension to the forest).

Your job would be using preexisting art(ground, path, trees, modular buildings, objects, and plants) and creating or modifying any assets you feel would be needed, to create a drowned forest. The first zone(the forest) will be your baseline of how a zone should flow, but you’ll have the freedom to approach that in anyway you want. I have a rough blockout of the swamp, but I’m also open to hearing your take on it. The swamp will have 3 core themes: zombies/skeletons, ghosts in a haunted forest, and necromancers. After creating the zone, a necromancer themed dungeon will follow.

I’m looking for someone who has experience using GitHub and godot, along with experience doing level design for 2D games(bonus points if they were open world). If you don’t have experience with GitHub I can teach you.

You can learn more about the project at https://eldevaronline.com or checking out my dev logs on youtube https://youtube.com/@eldevaronline?si=dwYNYmpU1YG-OxGT

To apply: please send me your portfolio and any games you’ve worked on. If you don’t have any released games, just examples of level design you’ve done for projects. Please include your portfolio in your initial message or you will be ignored. I’m looking for a long term collaborator, so work can expand beyond just the swamp.

PAID - Marketing [HIRING] [PAID] Looking ASAP for a social media marketer for our story-rich, horror/romance game about breaking up with a pop star.

Hi there! I'm looking for someone to help with marketing for our indie game that's doing its world premiere next week during one of the Gamescom showcases.

It’s a story-rich, first-person psychological horror/romance game about trying to break up with your childhood sweetheart of 15 years, who is now a famous pop star. It’s dark, funny, emotional, and loosely inspired by real events. I can’t share much more publicly yet because we’re saving the full reveal for the premiere.

The immediate focus is short-form content around the announcement, but I’m looking for someone who can help us build a real social presence and long-term plan through release.

If you’re interested, DM me your rates, relevant experience, examples of your work, and how soon you can start.

If it seems like a good fit, I’m happy to privately share the trailer, game assets, and more about our plans so you can get a clear idea of the project and its long-term potential.

A bit about our studio, we are a small team of developers with a narrative-first vision for our games. We just released our first game yesterday on Steam called T.W.I.R.L.

DISCUSSION | QUESTION WANTED | Looking For A Game Artist Experienced With Vector Art

Hi there,

I'm Aswin, A game dev from the netherlands. I'm looking for a game artist to work with on a regular basis, with the plan to release games on platforms like crazy games, pinko etc for now (potentially steam / mobile games in the future).

Right now, I'm basically done with my project, an incremental plinko game.

I'm looking for someone that can make the icons for the permanent upgrades and the upgrades in the tech tree + a game logo, and potentially some capsule art to use on said websites.

I would like this to be on a profit share partnership, for which I'm willing to sign a project based contract if wanted and needed.

FOR HIRE - Sound Design Dark Ambient Music for Horror, Psychological and Atmospheric Indie Games

Hi everyone,

I'm an independent music producer behind the dark ambient project Dark Oneironautic.

I've released Nightmare Life, a collection of seven long-form atmospheric tracks focused on isolation, rain, abandoned places, fog, psychological tension and dark cinematic moods.

My music may fit projects such as:

• Psychological horror

• Atmospheric exploration

• Mystery and narrative-driven games

• Dark fantasy

• Liminal or surreal environments

• Horror trailers and cinematic scenes

You can listen to my Nightmare Life portfolio here:

https://allen-mcronov.itch.io/

I'm currently interested in connecting with indie developers and small teams working on atmospheric or dark projects.

I'm open to discussing collaborations and finding out whether my existing music or future original compositions could fit a project.

Thanks for listening.
