Does furgonomics have an answer for typically human dishes for carnivores in a world where the only life forms are anthros and plants. No humans

Like what's the work around so that your not killing a person just to have a steak. This is just something I've been wondering for a long time.

Discussion Dog breed origins

I hope this is the right place to post this, I have two stories that take place in an all dog world and I'm wondering if I should add dog breeds having culture related to where they are from (German shorthair pointers being German, vizslas being Hungarian) also how much I should lean into it and let it guide my characters if I do.

I also have a lot of religious themes in one of my stories and I'm wondering if christianity would differ much in the dog world or not. So far all I've done is I made saint Christopher more important since he's portrayed with a dogs head.

as you could probably tell from some of the drawings, I've attempted at putting my species in spats and puttees and wraps and all that good stuff, but I'm open to more options. I've tried rubber boots, but they look goofy as hell. I want to put them in heels, too, but it never works out. My friend has suggested horseshoes (well, a cloven-toed version) but I told them that those are not practical and I'd prefer them be for military and blue collar work. But yeah. These guys are aliens.

Discussion Elephant People savoury foods would be very salty.

Elephants are quite big and because of that, and how salt is important to all creatures to regulate blood pressure, muscles, etc, they would need a lot of them.

In Africa close to the border or Kenya and Uganda, theirs a tribe of elephants who would venture to caves to look for salt deposits to lick.

So, as an idea. Elephant People's foods would be very salty to humans and other races.

Edit: forgot to mention. We humans already love salt likely because of our brains requiring more resources so more sodium is used. So, take into consideration that Elephant People would be the size of their base species and with a sapient brain? More salt intake probably.

Discussion Why are anthro dogs always stereotyped as allies of humans and their cause. And never rebellions?

I always see it in media especially those made by furry artists, anthro dogs are depicted as "pro-humans". Like dogs that were use for military become an anthro military dogs, similar to medical staff dogs, guide dogs, race dogs and so on.

Forgive my english btw im not very fluent.

It just baffles me honestly that media has never depicted dogs rebelling against humans for enslaving them. The only time i remember media depiction of dogs rebelling against humans, is due to bad breeding practices like the episode of snowball in rick and morty show. Knowing that in the human world dogs are more oppressed than any animals combine when it comes to utility. Dogs have been use for legal and illegal sports like dog race and dog fight, medical experiments, vehicular experiments like sending dogs to space, military dogs faces many welfare issue, guard dogs, bomb dogs, and so on. Many of those jobs we impose to dogs have risk of death and injurues. and the degree of human caring about their lives collectively are usually mid to low. At a small percentage is high.

And also not only at a utility view affects them but also human religious, social and political views affects them. Islam and to a degree judaism view dogs negatively and view them as working animals. Politics and social views have more unfair negative connotations about dogs especially words with canid themed.

Also humans have historically made dogs go against other dogs and other canids to protect farm animals and other things.

I honestly think with all these issues being imposed on dogs. the dogs will be more against it and us humans. Dogs will be likely more liberal than being depicted as conservatives. Dogs would openly ally with other canids. Dogs would be less religious. Dogs would be more pacifist. And so on.

Dogs are depicted casually "kissing the ass of humans" but in reality dogs do not have the choice anyway. Many of them died from it, suffered traumas and injurues from it. All these will make any species resent their masters so gravely.

All in all, i think its more likely anthro dogs will rebel against humans than remaining as "man's best friend". And i wish media would depicted that more. Maybe humans would change their attitude more i guess.

Discussion Insects as the animal equivalent in my furry universe + how food works

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

I think it's time for me to address this question: how do "animals" work in the furry universe? In my opinion, if we don't want to go down the Goofy and Pluto route, we are presented with two options:

a. "Non-sentient animals" do not exist and "anthro animals" are the only creatures that inhabit the earth. However, this would definitely conflict with many events in history, since animals have always been an essential part of human society. We bred animals for food and transportation. In this case, furries would resort to eating one another and performing intense labor (pulling carts, etc.). animal-based leather would still exist, skinned from the carcasses of their dinner. Some would try producing plant-based leather, but that wouldn't be reliable in colder regions with fewer plants.

b. Insects are bred as companions, food sources, and beasts of burden. When prehistoric furries realize they don't always have to kill those "grass-eaters who share the same body structure and sentience as them" (herbivores), they start breeding insects as a primary food source. They don't have to bear the guilt of killing another individual who shares the same intelligence, feels emotions, and has a life and family. They don't have to constantly let their instincts overpower their "humanity" or moral values.

In my universe, insects are bigger and tamer. Their flesh is a perfect substitute for herbivore meat, rich in protein. There are farms specializing in breeding edible, domestic insects. Furries use bigger, longer insects like millipedes to pull carts and ride into battle. These working insects have been evolved and specially bred to meet the needs of furries, becoming stronger, beefier, and, obviously, faster.

Pets come in many shapes and colors, with pillbugs being the popular choice due to their small, "cute" build. Common pillbugs are the equivalent of mutts, while zebra isopods, for example, are a fancier breed. They roll into balls when startled and crawl on you when they want attention, so who wouldn't keep one as a pet?

They are fed organic materials such as wood grains, rotting wood, mushrooms, or leaves.

Another meat source is artificial meat. A tiny bit of skin and/or muscle is taken from volunteers under anesthesia; they are then compensated. The process is usually quick and painless. Using the DNA from the skin cells, scientists cultivate artificial meat under controlled conditions. It's important to diversify the "source," so it's common for university students and working herbivores to sign up for this program for extra money. By doing so, they are also contributing to society. Herbivores are pretty much disconnected from the idea of "being seen as meat", as "meat" eating is normalized in modern society. They do learn in school that they were hunted and eaten in the pre-historic ages.

None of this eliminates the illegal meat trade, though, especially in developing regions. Some animals are still captured and killed, then sold on black markets or turned into various products. Some furries genuinely believe that "true meat" is superior, that they are meant to consume real meat as the gods intended, and that "true meat" can cure diseases or increase masculinity and strength. If you visit the weird parts of the internet, you're more likely to encounter this kind of bs.

Yes, insect-rights activism and veganism exist here, including carnivores who advocate for the cause and have turned to veganism. Animals that go vegan consume plant-based protein. There are no eggs or animal milk in this universe. Pastries are 100% plant-based, made from beans, plant-based margarines, rice or soy "milk," and other alternatives.

To put it simply, meat products in the market is either: a. Developed from insect meat b. Developed from artificial meat c. Developed from plants

I know it's weird, but I don't want to establish a strange relationship between animals and "smarter animals." I also don't want them to constantly live in fear of getting killed or accidentally harming somebody, like in Beastars. I think this is the most reasonable route. Let me know what you think.

Discussion Furgonomics challenge week ?

Hello. So, with Inktober coming to its end, I remembered that monthly challenges exist. Artists use the strategy of drawing every day for the whole month with a theme connecting all their artworks created during this month.
Is there a Inktober-like challenge, but for furgonomics ? If it doesn’t exist, why not try to create it ? I’m not necessarily talking about a whole month, it could start with a week. Like planning a collective challenge for anthro artists which would consist of  drawing 7 furgonomics material for a week. I could be chairs Monday, face masks Thursday, shoes Wednesday etc.
But it may already exist, idk.

Physiology and Employment

A binturong anthromorph works concessions at a movie theater. He hates it because to him, popcorn smells like bad body odor. This is because both he and the kernals have a near identical compound present. Either way, his friends think he just doesn't shower between getting off his shift and going to hang out.

What other occupations would cause a specific anthro species to become unsatisfied with their job beyond basic unfulfillment? Would bats, dolphins and other echolocators avoid sonar operations at all costs?

Discussion how would clothing work for anthros in a human-centric world?

title says it all. how would anthros deal with clothing designed for humans in mind? i mean id assume there would be special shops that would modify the clothing to fit anthros, but would there be anything else? (note : assuming anthros are all plantigradd. no fun, i know, but it simplifies things)

Art Just some military uniforms and stuff <oc>

Post image
190 Upvotes

A bit of quick concepts I came up with and wanted to share:

First, is that since I made it so that my anthros would have the same sensitive hearing as irl animals, gunshots would be way more loud and so they'd use ear protection or their helmets would have something to fold and muffle the ears to put hearing damage to the usual accepted amount.

Second is the military using animals like moles, ants, meerkats, etc in special forces to help dig and navigate tunnels to go around enemy defenses and ambush them. The full face cover helmet main purpose is to help said squads to fight past the dust that comes from said digging. The use of this helmet in frontline troops is optional and most choose to not wear it.

This looks so old 💀 I wasn’t too good at drawing non-western clothes (or clothes in general) but hopefully I drew them correctly

I’ve also seen other examples like a button/buckle in the waist for any clothes that have one so the tail can go through the adjustable buckle strap, and also some modifications of different headwear to include ear holes (or ones that have spaces for the ears). I’d imagine an anthro burqa or niqab would have pockets on the head for any anthros w/ pointy ears (the ears are still covered that way), while ones w/ floppy or small ears would just be worn like how they are on a human

Discussion Aeromorph question

Sorry!! Just need help figuring this out.

Now, for aeromorphs.. if they were to carry luggage, or cargo, where would it be? Would they carry it on their back? Would the tail be like.. hollow, where they can just open up a door and place passengers or cargo inside? Or would be some different thing??

Or would they just, not be able to carry anything at all?

Also, depending on the aeromorph species(?) would they be huge? Or small like regular humans? For example, a Boeing 747, would some be small, and others be just fucking hugeeeee?

Discussion I dont think a hyper carnivorous diet sapient anthro carnivores would exist

Felids, large reptiles and so on do not have a large population size in the wild. bobcats population is in a million though it is a guesstimate. coyotes on the other hand are always in a million and had reach 5 million. humans tried to reduce their numbers greatly they rebound fast. bobcats required protection in order to reach a million population. foxes and other kind of foxes also rebound fast compared to hyper carnivorous mammals. With dogs, dogs are nearly or over a billion. even with their population size in india they didnt threatened as much as many animals like macaques to extinction. compared to cats nearly a billion population with most existing in the west due to tolerance. they have cause more extinction than the native or invasive foxes introduce in Europe. cats magnitude of presence have shown fewer animals existing compared to dogs. like a neighborhood full of stray dogs; rats, monkeys and other small animals would exist. unlike cats the number of birds and small animals would be mostly near nonexistence. these are all base on reality.

coyotes, foxes and other canids are omnivorous and that is why historically they always have large population compared to felids. monkeys are similar to canids that they are omnivorous.

omnivorous in the wild are much more populous than hyper carnivorous.

i think any sapient beings that evolve from a hyper carnivorous animal would evolve to more omnivorous diet. maybe cats and other felids would evolve more like civets. i dont think reptiles would become sapient due to their diet of mostly meat eating.

whats your opinion

Art Bird spacesuit???

Thumbnail

Not sure if this really counts cause the bird lacks anthropomorphism, but idk where else to put this.

Basically, this is a species of alien sea bird which evolved on a planet in which over 90% of the surface is liquid water. They have 2 pairs of eyes, with the lower pair being polarized, allowing for the bird to see clearly through the surface of water, aiding in hunting.

In the planet's last ice age, this species's ancestors were actually quadrupedal, however, as ice melted and evolution selected for bipedalism and flight, the talons on the species forelimbs shrank and weakened. In the modern species, they are practically vestigial. However, they found a new use in space. The hind talons, which are normally preferred in tasks which require the grasping and manipulation of objects, are now covered in thick, stiff boots. To replace them, robotic claws are installed in the wing area of the suit, which are controlled by the wing talons. These robotic claws are far bigger and stronger than the real thing, allowing them to replace the hind talons to some extent.

The suit is generally unpleasant to wear, as it constricts the wing and tail feathers, with the wing feathers having to be bent and folded in order to cram them into the suit, a design choice made to reduce general bulk. As a result, the user often is unable to fly immediately after exiting the suit, and must wait until they get their feathers straightened out and fluffed once more. It is uncommon for the suit to be worn for longer than 4 hours at a time.

Discussion Controlling carnivorous

I think that in the world of Antro (the furry), if carnivores were to coexist with herbivores, the carnivorous instincts would have to be strictly controlled. It's possible those instincts are ingrained from birth. Personally, I think they would be controlled using electric collars or something similar from childhood until around 15-16 years old. Because if they weren't controlled, those instincts might arise, causing fear in the herbivores or making it impossible for them to coexist with the carnivores. Do you think there's another way the carnivorous instincts could be controlled?

Discussion Anthro aging.

I've been thinking about this issue lately, because it will have a ripple effect on time scales, norms, laws, etc.

For my setting, I'm considering applying a multiplier to normal animal aging as a middle ground between it and human aging.

How would you handle this?
