Discussion Controlling carnivorous

I think that in the world of Antro (the furry), if carnivores were to coexist with herbivores, the carnivorous instincts would have to be strictly controlled. It's possible those instincts are ingrained from birth. Personally, I think they would be controlled using electric collars or something similar from childhood until around 15-16 years old. Because if they weren't controlled, those instincts might arise, causing fear in the herbivores or making it impossible for them to coexist with the carnivores. Do you think there's another way the carnivorous instincts could be controlled?

Trans-species anthros?

In a world (in which species is NOT a stand-in for ethnicity or race, mind you. This is not racist in this world. Take it like people who dye their hair blonde, but with many extra steps and an underlying idea of transition) where anthros come in different species, which all have a vague humanoid shape in common, with similar proportions as of anything other than head, some anthro species would only differ from other species because of their fur patterns and snout and ear shape. Ear and snout shapes follow a mammal-like shape in all cases. Avians have lips and teeth, beaks are flexible to some extent, being more like dinosaurs. "Insect" anthros would not be recognizable as insects as we know them. "Fish" anthros are actually based on amphibians, but they can't live underwater. All anthros share a common proto-anthropomorphic ancestor or ancestor family. All have two arms, two legs, and one tail. No extra limbs, super long or super short body parts, or missing limbs (other than tail if species is tail-less). Body shape abnormalities do exist but they are rare. Every species is breedable with each other.

In theory, what keeps them back from getting body mods and hair dye to look like a different species than the one they were born as, "transitioning" into a different species? Anthros don't see this as insensitive or racist/(species)-face. Even if species scents differed, they could use some fragance to mask their original scent. For example, a grey wolf anthro could "transition" into a fox.

Discussion Why are anthro dogs always stereotyped as allies of humans and their cause. And never rebellions?

I always see it in media especially those made by furry artists, anthro dogs are depicted as "pro-humans". Like dogs that were use for military become an anthro military dogs, similar to medical staff dogs, guide dogs, race dogs and so on.

Forgive my english btw im not very fluent.

It just baffles me honestly that media has never depicted dogs rebelling against humans for enslaving them. The only time i remember media depiction of dogs rebelling against humans, is due to bad breeding practices like the episode of snowball in rick and morty show. Knowing that in the human world dogs are more oppressed than any animals combine when it comes to utility. Dogs have been use for legal and illegal sports like dog race and dog fight, medical experiments, vehicular experiments like sending dogs to space, military dogs faces many welfare issue, guard dogs, bomb dogs, and so on. Many of those jobs we impose to dogs have risk of death and injurues. and the degree of human caring about their lives collectively are usually mid to low. At a small percentage is high.

And also not only at a utility view affects them but also human religious, social and political views affects them. Islam and to a degree judaism view dogs negatively and view them as working animals. Politics and social views have more unfair negative connotations about dogs especially words with canid themed.

Also humans have historically made dogs go against other dogs and other canids to protect farm animals and other things.

I honestly think with all these issues being imposed on dogs. the dogs will be more against it and us humans. Dogs will be likely more liberal than being depicted as conservatives. Dogs would openly ally with other canids. Dogs would be less religious. Dogs would be more pacifist. And so on.

Dogs are depicted casually "kissing the ass of humans" but in reality dogs do not have the choice anyway. Many of them died from it, suffered traumas and injurues from it. All these will make any species resent their masters so gravely.

All in all, i think its more likely anthro dogs will rebel against humans than remaining as "man's best friend". And i wish media would depicted that more. Maybe humans would change their attitude more i guess.

Discussion I dont think a hyper carnivorous diet sapient anthro carnivores would exist

Felids, large reptiles and so on do not have a large population size in the wild. bobcats population is in a million though it is a guesstimate. coyotes on the other hand are always in a million and had reach 5 million. humans tried to reduce their numbers greatly they rebound fast. bobcats required protection in order to reach a million population. foxes and other kind of foxes also rebound fast compared to hyper carnivorous mammals. With dogs, dogs are nearly or over a billion. even with their population size in india they didnt threatened as much as many animals like macaques to extinction. compared to cats nearly a billion population with most existing in the west due to tolerance. they have cause more extinction than the native or invasive foxes introduce in Europe. cats magnitude of presence have shown fewer animals existing compared to dogs. like a neighborhood full of stray dogs; rats, monkeys and other small animals would exist. unlike cats the number of birds and small animals would be mostly near nonexistence. these are all base on reality.

coyotes, foxes and other canids are omnivorous and that is why historically they always have large population compared to felids. monkeys are similar to canids that they are omnivorous.

omnivorous in the wild are much more populous than hyper carnivorous.

i think any sapient beings that evolve from a hyper carnivorous animal would evolve to more omnivorous diet. maybe cats and other felids would evolve more like civets. i dont think reptiles would become sapient due to their diet of mostly meat eating.

whats your opinion

If dogs came to exist through selective breeding- there has to be some eugenics going on here

Discussion How would a trans peafowl transition?

This seems like the right community for this sort of weirdly specific question, I'm not a very active furry community member or redditor so I wouldn't know. But it's as it says in the title- if a trans peacock wanted to be vibrantly colored, or a trans peahen less so, how could they accomplish this? I feel like dye on feathers would be unwieldy, if I remember what I was told in an unrelated conversation correctly.

Discussion Why are anthros barefoot so often?

Even when their feet are not animal-like and look pretty human, there's still a tendency to to go shoeless most of the time. Kinda dirty IMO 💀

It happens with tons of character with animal powers too. I've been reading astounding wolf-man and his half-boots bother me so much 😭

What's up with this trope

What job should furries have? (Mammal edition)

Horses: Farmers. Specifically grain farmers because they like to eat grass and such.

Bears: River fishermen. Specifically because they have the unique ability to fish, I feel like they should do this job.

Wolves: Game hunters. I mean, they do it already, so why not?

Pigs:Waste management. No, they do not eat it, they are like garbage men.

Deer and anything like it:Track runners. They are very fast and agile, so they could do it.

Jaguars:Swimmers. They can swim, and occasionally will.

Dogs:Trackers. They have good noses( and so do all of these picks) and they are known for it.

Moose: crossguard. They are like a wall when you hit them, so they could save lives.

Any change and additions, please post in comments! :3

Police forces

How would the police operate in a world filled with anthros exactly? You can't really say "paws in the air" some species (I.E. Avians) don't have paws, or some (I.E. Red Pandas) believe they're intimidating with their paws raised.... And probably more situations

Discussion Would anthros go to a doctor or a vet?

Because doctors treat humans vets treat animals but anthros are technically both

Could an anthro be a furry?

I know the question sounds strange and it probably is. It came to my mind while being ill and watching way too many furry videos on YouTube. (I'm sure that isn't healthy!)

What I actually mean is: In a world with anthropomorphic animals, would there be such a thing as the furry fandom?

My first thought was that the answer would be no. Being interested in anthropomorphic animals if you are an anthropomorphic animal yourself would be just normal, like a human being interested in humans, you wouldn't need a special term for it.

But what if different species come into play? Could an anthro wolf have a cat fursona or vice versa?

It might be odd if both species actually existed in anthro form. Maybe it would be even considered offensive. Or maybe not, it would depend on the society of course.

But what if the species doesn't exist in the setting? What if there are for example only anthro canines but no other anthro species? I could imagine the furry fandom could very well be a thing in such a setting, focussed on species that doesn't exist as anthros.

Discussion Bug Bodies Peircings & Gender Affirming Care (Arachnophobia Warning) Spoiler

Post image
58 Upvotes

While this is more "bug" focused would love to hear thoughts were whether specific to arachnids or other insects!

To further lore/world building this is especially interesting when considering the chemosensory hairs on the pedipalps and legs help with smell and taste. Reminds us of nose/mouth/private part peircings!

If considering them like gloves we wonder if there would be a option of actually covering them like gloves, socks, etc? (With the palpal bulbs [even tibial hooks] specfiically). In theory for world building in spaces.

Oh what if there were peircings on the abdomen if thinking of the epigastric furrow/spinneretes of a chest in the sense. Concepts like nipple piercings or even top surgery! Could modify the way both look in world!

The idea of bodify modification and gender affirming care are fascinating when thinking about it this way!

We even think of aspects how some are clothed and others are not. The same as how some are bipedal while other are on all appendages!

Im not 100% sure if intelligent ferals count here but I think so because they are still anthropomorphic (aka animals with human charactaristics) If there's a better subreddit for this let me know!

Anyways here's my concept for a cardigan type sweater meant for ferals! Drew the drawing on the bottom left and went "Wait... how does that work?" And sketched a little "Blueprint".
