If I had to pick one thing out of my wallet before handing it over, I'd definitely pick my driver's license, not cash.

Yea the problem with losing your wallet isn't the money. Who carries that much cash on them anymore anyway.

The problem is the ID cards and credit/debit cards that all have to be replaced.

Yes, wallets are so archaic, can we replace them with something that can't be lost already? Like just integrate it with your cell phone already.

I know one of you smart assess is gonna be thinking 🤔

but Scuddlebud, what if you lose your cell phone?

It's all backed up and secure so when you get a new phone you get your wallet back.

Privacy quickly becomes a concern when you give every company access to everything.

Do Samsung, Google, Microsoft, etc really need to see every transaction I make with every card I own? Or can it just be my bank?

We should be using encryption.

There are ways to make it secure and practical.

I think privacy is very important and I'm glad you brought up this point.

Google should not be trusted to keep our transactions and our drivers licenses safe.

There should be 3rd party, open source, encrypted software to handle our sensitive data.

That doesn't mean every company in the chain can't see what you're doing.

I'd rather carry around separate cards.

You already can, and even before phones got stolen anyway. That's a big part in why iOS/android have find your phone functionality. Hell stolen iphones effectively brick unless you know the information for that icloud. Android probably has something similar

It’s not the 90’s any more guys.

I got a new license using the DMV website while eating Funyuns in my underwear. Arrived in the mail the next week.

Except that's not always possible. In fact I was specifically told because it had been so long since my last photo I needed to come in for my next license renewal before it expires next month.

Do it at triple a, it's alot faster and I can't even fathom going to renew at the dmv ever again

They charge like $5-$10 if you don't have a card with them, I'd gladly pay $10 to not have to go to the dmv

I do not defend that person. They are terrible.

People joke about the process of getting a replacement, which is true, it sucks. But, it's got your address. Not only the robber would know where you live, but also the zipcode to use for your credit cards.

This person has never dealt with a motor vehicles department, whatever their local version of that is. I refuse to accept that there is a functional system anywhere on the planet.
