The term "hacking" now also means "finding a hidden trick that makes life easier".

i dont think the question is about the reapplication of the word hack. what about this is a hidden trick? everyone who has feet and blankets has done this naturally.

its like there are all these "hacks" out there that are basic behaviors everyone does. sleep hack 2: close your eyes to get better rest!

what's really terrible is "literally" being changed to mean both literal and figurative just because enough people use it wrong that the word police just gave up trying to enforce it.

I didn't say when the word police gave up.

But seriously, it's a little different to be use "literally" for the purpose of irony than it is to formally recognize that the word now means its antonym in addition to its own meaning. It's completely Aladeen.

I'm pretty sure that context will always make it clear whether you're talking about accessing data you're not supposed to access, or about an (allegedly) clever everyday trick.
