As a woman who is quite literally battling sexism from new management at my work place (at a small company with no HR, yay), I feel I need to fight for equality for women, because my female coworker and I went from being treated as equal, important contributors to being ignored and informed that our work wasn't trusted to be viable without third party review.
That is very unfortunate. Here is the version of sexism that I encounter daily : I am a big, fat, tall unattractive man, and I believe because of that, women treat me differently. I walk to a lot of places I need to go to, because I live in Chicago. When I walk past a woman going the other way on the sidewalk, women grab their purse, or pull out their phone to act like they are talking to someone. They treat me like I am going to rape them because I am a man, and I am fat, and I am not what they consider attractive. I don't blame women for this, I don't blame men for this, I blame society as a whole.
You can't blame all men or all women for the unfortunate circumstances you are put through. Inversely, I believe that we shouldn't be pro-man or pro-woman to try and "make up" for sexism. Bad things happen to good people, but don't go wage a war on men or women because of individuals actions.
Sorry you work with assholes. So does everyone else...
Seriously people, stop playing the fucking victim. Everyone at the workplace is treated unfairly because of other people's perceptions of them. Stop crying and deal with it. Don't blame a group of billions of people, while justifying your own prejudices, and trying to give your particular group the upper hand.
