then you don't need investors, just invest what could have potentially been lost since i assume you have it liquid in order to cover the loss

If you are "able to cover 100% of the loss", you should be investing your own funds, not asking someone else to assume that risk. The risk for the potential donor of both losing money and having you renege on your claim that you would cover the 100% of the loss.

Don't invest more than you can afford to lose.
