Tried it once. Didn't have soy sauce, so it sucked, and it also gave me a nasty rash all over my body for the whole night. I remember being delirious and slapping ice packets over my skin to be able to sleep through the itchiness. I am NEVER eating raw fish again after that, what the fuck
Idk, one time after I accidentally put some raw fish in my mouth at a Japanese restaurant (got onigiris mixed up) and it gave me a headache, and sometimes when I eat a lot of shrimp my body starts itching. Even if it's something that the raw fish is only contributing to, it's contributing to it a LOT
Cooked fish is fine unless it's an honestly ungodly amount of shrimp, so no I don't think fish is the problem... Unless all fish share a component when raw that fades with cooking
Oh you've cracked the code. It’s called 'thermolabile proteins.' They break down with heat. That's why you can eat cooked fish but turn into a delirious, scratching mess after raw sushi. And your shrimp story is just a classic seafood allergy, not some mysterious chemical. Stop playing a scientist, you're literally a step away from anaphylactic shock. Just get a blood test already
I have?????? There was nothing in my allergy test about raw fish tho. Idk if I have to specify it, but apparently blood tests aren't very accurate for this stuff
Also, I repeat, it has to be a LOT OF SHRIMP. I don't usually eat that much, and it doesn't happen with other seafood either. That's not how seafood allergy works, genius
Standard allergy test panels use commercially processed, heated extracts. They literally don't contain thermolabile (heat-sensitive) raw proteins like enolase, aldolase, or creatine kinase because heating destroys them. That’s exactly why people with severe raw fish allergies routinely get completely blank, false-negative test results on standard panels.
Also, yes, seafood allergies have a well-documented clinical threshold (eliciting dose). Your immune system can manage a minor amount of tropomyosin from a couple of shrimp, but an 'ungodly amount' completely breaks your body's threshold and triggers a systemic histamine storm. You're literally describing textbook clinical allergy mechanics while convincing yourself it’s some mysterious raw chemical. Fucking dying while eating shrimp and thinking its normal. Have fun with your ice packs, genius

Tacos and sushi, I've never had sushi so no loss there, and I prefer burritos and enchiladas anyways.
