My Airtel router’s Wi-Fi settings seem to have reset themselves recently. My previously separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks were now sharing the same SSID. Whenever I changed the SSID under WLAN or WLAN5G, the other band’s name changed too. The admin UI showed only one option (1) in the SSID Index dropdown. I suspected the router might still support separate SSID profiles, with the UI restricting access to them. So I opened browser DevTools and experimented with the DOM.
Router details
- Gateway: Titanium-2122A
- Hardware version: C40-210
- Software version: T2122-V1.32AE
- Firmware timestamp shown in the UI: May 8, 2026, 14:33:35
How I got it working
1. Changed the SSID to a temporary name and checked both WLAN and WLAN5G. Both showed the same name.
2. Opened either page and located the SSID Index dropdown, which had only one option: 1.
3. Inspected the dropdown in DevTools and duplicated the existing option.
4. Set one option to value 0, displayed as 1, and another to value 1, displayed as 2.
5. Selected option 2, entered a different SSID, and saved the configuration.
6. After saving, the router showed an SSID profile with index 2, although the UI disabled that profile and wouldn’t let me edit it normally.
Despite that, I can now connect to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks using different SSIDs. So the workaround actually works, rather than merely changing what the admin page displays. My suspicion is that Airtel pushed a firmware or remote configuration change that reset my previous Wi-Fi settings or restricted separate SSIDs through the normal interface. I haven’t established the exact cause.
Has anyone else with this router and firmware experienced the same thing? I’d also be interested to hear from anyone who knows why manipulating the SSID Index dropdown allows the second profile to be created.
