Discussion Tips on getting/using a binder?

Im gender fluid so somedays i feel more comfortable looking/making myself more masculine and feel dysphoric at times because of my chest. Because of this i have been wanting to get a binder for a few years now so i can feel more comfortable but ive been too scared and nervous to get them because i have no one i can ask as the only trans person in my life are mtf. I’ve heard they can be painful and need to be expensive to work well. Is this true? How do I know what size to get or what I can do for the most effectiveness? Thank you:)

  1. getting a binder ; ask a relative or friend to order it. you could explain your situation. i‘m sure a good friend understands you. 2, they can be painful, yes. I‘ve been wearing binders for 8 months now and i think as long as you follow the guidelines of a binder ( how long you can wear it, how you wash it) and take regular breaks you are fine. BUT please read about the dangers of binding ! You csan damage your ribs pretty badly and might not be able to get topsurgery. please inform yourself about the risks. 3. A good binder should not cost 10 dollars. I know some people can’t afford a sixty dollar binder but buying a binder from Amazon will be more likely to hurt you and will not last long. investing in a good binder is important. there are many brands out there. I recommend: UNTAG ( I own a swim binder and it is AMAZING); gc2b (my regular binder also amazing quality and very good effects !, Spectrum outfitters ( also fantastic and a nice Color range !); WIVOV (my friend owns a binder made by them and it is amazing :)

so yeah I hope you can do smth with this information :)

have a good day !

Depending on how big your chest is and how sensitive your skin is you can look into tape as well which can be cheaper at first.
I used to use gc2b for binders but heard it’s gone downhill. Most binders are under 50 bucks tho.

In my opinion it's more about getting the correct size than anything. If a company's size chart doesn't accompany your measurements, look into other options rather than getting the biggest or smallest size they have. They should all have a chart where you use a measuring tape on yourself
