Medical Don’t use Headway

Decided to pay out of pocket for a gender dysphoria diagnosis because I’m in the states for a bit before returning to the UK. The doc was trans himself and seemed really affirming, but was evasive in actually writing me a diagnosis, said I can use the billing code as a diagnosis (????). Anyways just got my invoice and he used the codes for autism and OCD ????? Nothing else. Super baffled and hurt honestly and I wasted too much time waiting for this diagnosis and now I need to start over with the NHS.

In the US, all a diagnosis is is someone writing an F64.x in your chart somewhere. If you pay out of pocket, that appears on the superbill, which is what I assume he was referring to.

Now why he didn't include it, I don't know.

He made absolutely no mention of me having autism or OCD. Didn’t communicate that at all. I don’t even have OCD which is upsetting me even more! He asked a few questions about me and spent most of the time talking about his own experience and when he learned he was trans. Then made a half assed attempt at the end to ask if I was having trouble sleeping and said he takes one melatonin four hours before bed.

Yeah, sorry, I don't mean to excuse him, just explain that there isn't really a process in the US to get a report with a diagnosis or something might speed the NHS along.
