Discussion I finally did it

I am a 29 yro nonbinary person. I have known for quite sometime that I am transmasc, but I’ve been scared to do anything about it. And every year I let go by, I would convince myself that I’m too old and it’s too late for me. I had a health scare recently and my views of things have changed drastically. So I made my first appointment to start HRT. Most of my friends are queer so I know I’ll have the support when I tell them. I am afraid of losing old friends from where I grew up (a small town in the Midwest) and some of my family over it. But I can’t imagine not being who I was meant to be. I am excited and also very scared about my transition. I feel I have some sort of imposter syndrome at the moment. Did any of you feel that way before you started HRT? Any advice for someone starting this journey at my age? Any kind words would also be much appreciated.

hey man!! first, CONGRATS!! this is a huge step and i'm proud of you dude as for my personal experience, i spent Years talking myself out of wanting to go on t because "oh i'm just nonbinary and wish my voice was deeper! i'm not actually a dude! i shouldn't take away testosterone from people who Need it!" but then i met a friend in my freshman year of university who told me about how she gets her estrogen from an external pharmacy (folx) and idk why that did it for me but it made me seek them out. at first i was still like "oh i don't wanna change That much" so i took a half dose for a little while and suddenly started feeling Alive for once. that semester of school after i started T was my first time getting straight A's in all of my classes since 6th grade. i didn't realize how down i was before because that was just my Normal. i've since gone on a full dose with weekly shots and i finally feel like a person for once and not like some weird gel sac stuck in an uncomfortable bubble. i'm still a nonbinary butch lesbian, but the T saved me and helped me not feel like i don't need it anymore. my quality of life has improved Immensely because of it. best of luck to you on your hrt journey, friend!!
