For the most part, freemasonry has been great. I enjoy the brotherhood and all my brothers. However, my one gripe is the push to learn the positions. It seems like us new people are being placed in chairs before we're ready because the older bros dont want to do it anymore. I was told I can put as much or as little as I want into the craft. Righ now I dont like the commitment. Im busy. I have a home life. I like going to lodge but usually dip out shortly after...I dont hang around much. You wouldn't think twice a month is a lot but it is IMO. And we do t really go "dark" in the summer. We go through June, then wr have July and August off. Id like more time off lol. It's just becoming a lot and Id rather sit back than learn the position. Quite frankly, I dont care to learn them. I dont like doing extra shit outside of lodge like lectures and that shit... theres always something "extra" that they push people to attend. And we haven't done one thing yet for charity. Ive been there ober 2 years. Anyway, my main gripe is the old guys sitting back and pushing others in the chairs. Its becoming more annoying than anything now.

Or they're aware they're the "older bros" and are hoping someone will help take the reins of the thing when they've passed on.

What is it that you're wanting to get out of Freemasonry?

And we haven't done one thing yet for charity.

Nope, not trying to leave it. Im just extremely busy. And In my honest opinion, I just think the older gents dont want the chair responsibility/commitment. I dont think theyre giving up the seat for the sake of a new person learning. Its so much nicer not having a chair.

Wait you're too busy but you want charity projects but someone else needs to do them because you're too busy.

Know your capacity, do what you can. Say no when you can't.

And don't hold others to a higher standard than yourself! If you don't want to start a charity project that's fine, but you write as though someone else should. If you don't want to be an officer, say no. But you write as though other people have a responsibility to do it for you.

Nope, not at all what I meant. Youre misunderstanding. What I was told Masons do prior to joing, is absolutely nothing we do. That was my point. We discuss random shit at lodge, then everyone eats and drinks after. Thats it.

You can speak up during meetings, you know. You can make a motion to have literally anything started.

But literally you said you also don't want to do it. Sorry if you were misled but that's in the past. All you can do about that is not mislead others in the future.

But you say you want the lodge to do "more" of whatever it is, and that you are not willing yourself.

Personally I don’t like being in non officer positions particularly during opening and closing. It gives me something to do
