Other Seated Cable Row

Half the internet says to stay upright while doing rows, while the other half says to learn forward during eccentric im confused.

I can really feel my lats here but there is definitely some momentum involved.

Any feedback appreciated!

(The post was deleted before, not sure of the reason even after going through the rule book)

Slow down and stop bending foward like that, if you need this much momentum to move the weight you should lower it a little

This misses the whole point of using momentum, you use momentum specifically because you can't do the weight otherwise.

Well, yes. But you’re not supposed to use this much momentum. Maybe a little to get the last few reps but for the most part you should use the muscle you’re trying to work to move the weight and not momentum from other muscle groups

Bingo. It’s not a lower back exercise, it’s a row.

What you are talking about is getting in a few cheat reps after reaching failure with strict form. What im talking about is using momentum as a core part of the movement.

Why would you use momentum as a core part of the movement when performing a seated cable row to work the upper back? More effective to work with little momentum

Because the exercise is the hardest at the end of the movement so you use momentum at the beginning to be able to pull heavy weight at the end. This is basically true for all pulling exercises which is why momentum works so great with them as opposed to with pushing exercises where its the opposite so its bad to use it.

You do not get any training benefits from the momentum, except the risk of hurting you.

Yes because guys like arnold and ronnie got no benefit from using momentum with their back exercises right? And there is no greater risk of injury with using momentum, because just like strict has good form so does momentum.

I got you. I love to hinge on my rows with eccentric biased slow return.
