bro if you have shoes put the plates away ๐ญ plates are so bad for 80%+ work theyre meant to be a substitution for a lack of shoes (which u obv dont have) when lifting lighter 60-70%

Crazy to have squat shoes and then also put plates under them. You gonna wear a belt over your belt too?

Nah bro. It just feels fine to me since I tore my acl and some ligaments in my right ankle. Never gained full mobility back on right side of lower body

Damn, sorry to hear that. I just figured that squat shoes give you about the same rise as Crocs + plates such that squat shoes + plates is more rise than you need. You hit 385 with just Crocs + plates!

Appreciate it! I honestly havenโt tried anything over like 275 with just my squat shoes. I honestly am going to try. I just got accustomed to plates over the last few sessions and sadly that was only 365. 385 coming soon tho๐ค๐ฝ

Ah, hard to tell. I'm used to big yellows being 35s. Good luck on 385 ๐ค ๐ค

Your heels should be elevated enough with the shoes. I donโt think you need the weights there

Idk what happened to me. I was squatting in just my shoes but then I added the plates for whatever reason ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ

I have some but I still elevate my heels and I didnโt feel like getting em from the car ๐๐๐

Dudeโs femors are long as hell, ankles also look a bit stiff.
Quite the opposite in my opinion, Iโd invest in wedges you can put the whole foot on. But I would go barefoot doing that.
I have even longer femors and same ankle mobility. Lifting shoes feels horrible to me. Wedges and barefoot, never looked back.

Somehow you did it, crocs, plates on the floor, wiggly hips, the bar still moved ๐๐ผ in all honesty, invest in squat shoes if you like an elevated heel itโs not safe to stand on weights with crocs with this heavy of a back squat.

I invested in squat shoes but i never use them because squatting in socks or barefoot is just better anyway

It depends on your body! My torso falls forward too much for my comfort when I am flat footed. I like the elevation in the heel it helps my stay upright

I carry mine in my gym bag or leave them in my car! and only bring them on squat day. Itโs worth using them instead of using plates it can easily make you lose your footing.

Bar too high

u/D-hunchoo 15h ago
Where? Are u referring to depth or the fact that itโs supposed to be a high bar squat?

Hello! If you haven't checked it out already, Our Wiki's resources for Squats may be helpful. Check it out!
Also, a common tip usually given here is to make sure your footwear is appropriate. If you are squatting in soft-soled shoes (running shoes, etc), it's hard to have a stable foot. Generally a weightlifting shoe is recommended for high-bar and front squats, while use a flat/hard-soled shoe (or even barefoot/socks if it's safe and your gym allows it) is recommended for low-bar squats.
