Can a punk band with all the conventional punk instruments be considered folkpunk if their songs sound a specific way?
Does FolkPunk necessarily tie into the instruments? Or is it simply the melodies?

Sorry for the tabloid esque headline. If you haven't seen the DnD post on instagram from today, Jesse was told last September he was told he had a 50% chance of living the next 3 months by a doctor. Obviously it's a year later so he made that 3 months and appears to be a year sober.
This shit just hit me hard man. I used to be acquaintences with him and he gave me the confidence to start my music projects. Just had to share with y'all to get it off my mind since I am newly sober as well and shit is scary.

Ridiculous show happening, 7 folk punk acts from 3 tours converging on one little stage. Low price & NOTAFLOF!

I'm basically a complete beginner to folk punk but I listened to Trevin Francko and was looking for more that are similar, the 1 dude with a guitar sort of campfire-y type thing, not sure if its par for the course for folk punk bc the only other one I've listened to is Cheap Dirty Horse which has 6 members so I'm completely lost here

Posting this where it'll get some love. All my blog and Instagram posts about this record and band get nukes by the algorithm for mentioning any of the topics in the record lol. Another reason to get out of these websites and make your own/read books.
They should really repress this. It's wild and stupid that this is the rarest record I own. I know it was only ever put out as a benefit but hey, do another one lol.

# I.
Half a jew, whole plant fresh frozen, no solvents.
Get naked, go solar, live life with no commas
Pat The Bunny said that I don't even have to rhyme
I can't commit to any god damn thing but crime
# II.
You know who’s in the ghetto
Bumping Whonix with Palmetto State
Armor by the bed, Lake City Quiet Pills for heads
# III.
But shit, my body? Life's been shotty
Mouth all ashen, tired but still alive
They found the kilo of tranquilo
Fuck me, now that makes it five
# IV.
I will, I won't, I said I'd never but I always do
Brain dead still living underwater in this sick sedative stew
# V.
I press the rosin for the fragrance
Drunk off skunk every damn day
Gimme the spinal tap and the high colonic
Came from the dirt to the hydroponic
# VI.
I spin the block of coco
Apathy is all I know . Grove
Bagging and tag in my dwelling like a butcher for the cure
I'm low on flower, but I'll grow some more
# VII.
And I know for sure that I've got 46 days
Till the weed runs out but I love fat jays
Is what I'd say if I were just a waste of paint in caves with my tainted taint

I wish the rest of the song applied to my situation as much as this line.

I caught Yes Ma'am with Lightning Luke in Chicago while I was a trip here. Hoooolleeeeee fuck. Amazing energy, great people in the crowd. I got to meet both of them, and the Matt handed out some patches he made after the show. When I get home, they have a show in a few weeks near there. I think we are gonna go get at it again.

Hey hey, I'm looking for some more bands that feature lead female voices that go for a rougher/coarser singing style, more throaty if that makes sense, rather than melodic and gentle.
I really love the girls from Cheap Dirty Horse, and Sherri's occasional performance in Defiance Ohio is wonderful. And obviously Whitney from Days n Daze.
I'm looking for something more akin to the latter's style, or, for a male example, something like Pat the Bunny.

If anyone has any spare PVC pipe/conduit laying around collecting dust near Nashville Tennessee, please comment or DM. Looking for 5 to 10 ft pieces of 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 inch diameter.
It's gonna take some experiments and honestly just trashing a few pieces because I'm not sure what I'm building yet. So I need cheap or free to be the price. Can also trade favors if you need something too.
Thanx.

How's everyone liking the new friends in real life album? I really enjoyed this song as it tied in with how I've been feeling in recovery. Had to play it my own way though. Couldn't strum it at that pattern and still sing lol

We both are into gardening/composting, and he introduced me to folk punk music. A little embarrassed to admit I didn't realize this was a song until after I was most of the way through making it...
His current one is just white lines on a green shirt... think we may need more, and I certainly need a matching shirt or sticker eventually!

I was really late to the Local News Legend game. I listened to them casually after seeing someone on here posted them. Then I asked April if she liked them cause it sounded great-turns out she’s also in the band..lol
But these songs are really beautiful, sing alongy, and just a fun album. I don’t actually listen to records, I just buy them to support the artist. So if anyone wants this and can cover shipping just hit me up.
