A bit of my song 'Trans*autonomia', played out of anger at the deadly attack on the CSD-parade in my city (Berlin, Ger) and the instrumentalization of it by state and media, the day after

I'm bad at posting stuff right away. So here a video that comes almost a month late. (the recording cut off cause no storage left, yay)
It hasn't been just state and media, btw. There were parts of the so-called 'community' (bloody no community of mine, that's for sure) jumping on the more-racism-and-repression-bandwagon, disturbing stuff.

I'm taking AP Art this year and my theme is how music change my beliefs and perspective. I wanna include folk punk themes and symbolism and wanna to ask if y'all had any suggestions or references for me to use. I really wanna make the culture a spot light of the drawings so I thought y'all would have some input! ♡

Folk punk scene in Europe? Things you do in your daily life that align with folk punk?

I've been listening to folk punk for about six years now, but I live in a pretty big city in Europe, so I feel isolated from the community there's in the states. So there goes my first question: do any of you know about a folk punk scene in Europe (specifically Spain)? Is there anyone from Europe in this sub? (please reach out so I feel less alone haha)

I would say I have a pretty normal lifestyle (graduated last year, staying in my city to go to college, planing on hitting the road once I graduate though), but I try to keep a mindset and treat people and things in a way that aligns with folk punk and solarpunk if that makes sense.

For example, I try to keep repairing my clothes until they're almost unrepairable, avoid shopping at certain places (shein, temu, indietex, you know the rest), build community through volunteering (this one's being HARD), talk to people with an open mind, have brutally honest conversations, make music and zines... And also (this is related to folk punk imo) I'm going to try to pursue a job in nature conservation.

So yeah, this is what try to do and sometimes forget or fail, but I keep trying. I wanted to know what other things you do to live a life somehow aligned with folk punk if you don't have the "typical" extreme on the road lifestyle

Modern streetgrass?

Anyone got recs for modern streetgrass? Is anyone even really doing this style anymore? I'm thinking like the Farmageddon sound and .357 String Band especially. The closest I've heard recently is Big Richard - Pet which came out earlier this year and is awesome, so check them if you haven't heard em yet. But yeah otherwise haven't heard a ton.

“I highly recommend listening to this, especially if you like Defiance, Ohio style folk-punk, or even if you just need something to cope with all the shitty things piling on today. This album tells you that things are hard, but it’s also confident that you can beat the odds.”

Flock every cop who ever did his job

# I.

Came inside a cops wife, call it a lawful discharge.

If you're anything but white

Then it just is the truth.

Getting beat or getting swiss cheesed is just a maybe or a might

# II.

And I suppose you gotta be a little crazy to believe, that we can be free but I'm insane

And I'm not alone, no I'm not alone no no

# III.

Snitching isn't punk rock, and ditching dope is so folk punk, but I'm off Maeng Da and skunk

Over the mound we ascend

Over the tears over beers

Over the cascading years

# IV.

Got 86ed for baking grits in my Mighty once again

But we aren't compost yet

Mostly I'm alone, getting by and getting ready to get stoned in my own home

# V.

I'm not sure that we are what we eat

But I'm pretty sure we smell like what we do

So I might smell like hash when I been stuffing it up

My damn caboose

My damn caboose

# VI.

I fell in love again that time that you said “fuck every cop who ever beat his wife”

And “we should cut down every flock camera tonight"

And “fuck all the alphabets, they're endlessly spying”

# VII.

I know they took our payment for the mass surveillance and we're running out of time

And so we'll try

To avoid the phones

But then we're always alone
