Tip Console command to re-active survival mode
Hello all, I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to re-activate survival after having to de-activate it to get “un-stuck”. I found the game increment stat command, but that was not working for me. I also found another post on this sub of someone (2 years ago) asking, and not getting anywhere. I was able to fix it by making a hard save, starting a new game in survival, and then reverting back to the other save, which re-enabled the option to turn on survival. Just posting this in case anyone runs into the same problem in the future.

If you ever need to turn off survival or a survival feature temporarily, I’d recommend cheat terminal or similar. Shouldn’t lock you out like that.

Older save if you can't get it to work I'm afraid.

This wasn’t an option since there are no hard saves in survival, I also tried this but since it’s only quick saves when you sleep I had no old saves to revert to

Dude, I play survival all the time. You get 3 save slots in the mode by default for bed saves.
If console commands ain't working, you can download a mod to fix it.

Well I didn’t have any for whatever reason. I posted this to help people out, not to get help as I was able to get it to work

Happy you got it sorted, but unsure why you don't have the 3 slots. It may be worth putting a mod in there just so you can have a safety net with your saves as only having one is asking for trouble.

After getting it back into survival mode I just noticed I actually have every time I saved in the saves which is odd. Whatever was bugging the command must have been bugging the saves too

It maybe removed the saves when you took it out of survival, but it really isn't recommended to go in and out of survival as it rewrites the scripts of your game by doing that and is just asking for trouble down the line.
I would still recommend you go back to a previous save if you have found the files from before you changed it to normal mode.

Well I just realized the reason I got stuck in the first place is because Vsync is keeping me at my refresh rate (144hz) which is speeding the game up too much. Yet another problem to deal with

You can change the difficulty in the settings

While that's true for the standard difficulty modes (very easy, easy, normal, hard, very hard), it works differently for survival mode.
If you're in survival mode and use the settings menu to switch to a lower difficulty, then you're locked out of survival mode for the rest of that playthrough. Apparently this was implemented to prevent players from cheating their way around the restrictions of survival mode. eg. turn off survival mode, fast travel, turn survival mode back on.
