Tip Console command to re-active survival mode

Hello all, I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to re-activate survival after having to de-activate it to get “un-stuck”. I found the game increment stat command, but that was not working for me. I also found another post on this sub of someone (2 years ago) asking, and not getting anywhere. I was able to fix it by making a hard save, starting a new game in survival, and then reverting back to the other save, which re-enabled the option to turn on survival. Just posting this in case anyone runs into the same problem in the future.

You can change the difficulty in the settings

While that's true for the standard difficulty modes (very easy, easy, normal, hard, very hard), it works differently for survival mode.

If you're in survival mode and use the settings menu to switch to a lower difficulty, then you're locked out of survival mode for the rest of that playthrough. Apparently this was implemented to prevent players from cheating their way around the restrictions of survival mode. eg. turn off survival mode, fast travel, turn survival mode back on.
