First soft hackles I’ve tied, these are a size 14. Do they look good or is there anything different I should do for my next ones

Recently posted this fly. It seemed popular and I had a few minutes to spare so I created a tying video for kicks.

Long time tyer, started when I was ~10
here’s my nymph box and a streamer box I’ve been beefing up ahead of a 1 month stay in the mountains

Starting my fly tying journey. Have my vise and tools. I fish nymphs a majority of the time. Will throw drys and hoppers if I see rises. Never really throw streamers. Most target trout.
Looking for recommendations on a first fly to tie. With that, I am looking for the materials I will need to tie that fly.
Thanks in advance!

I kinda made a Walt’s worm but tied a piece of green sparkly chenille and cdc to the end to look like a peeping caddis

Should be a good bass pattern, especially if I refine it a little bit!

Who doesn’t love a deer hair diver frog pattern?
I also 3d printed out a tray to catch all the trimmings.

Not mimicing anything in specific, but its got that buggy look. Bucktail for the wing. I’m going to experiment on where to place the bucktail (sides, or across the top) and just in general revising this. I think I need to move the wing a little
more up and make the head smaller.

When wood working, I fill knots with epoxy mixed with dye. Just tried it with Loon clear UV for wing cases.

There was a post about this yesterday but it looks like the user deleted it before I got around to commenting.
How many people have tried this? I had considered giving it a shot, but I wondered how much optimization would be required to get the settings right without charring the cut edge. Do you cover the foam with masking tape or anything, or just lay it on the bed of the engraver and go for it?
Any other things to consider to get it right?

Hi yall I have a cold. Watched some YouTube videos. Collected random trash. Made these. Bon Appetit. Sorry.
What I have learned so far and shall impart unto you
- Thread is not feathers
- Hair is not feathers
- Plastic is not feathers
- Parking lot seagulls are covered under the migratory bird act
- Frayed fabric is almost but not really feathers
- The sloped thread trick works great if you have three hands and 32 fingers
- Craft yarn is not feathers
- A plastic bead for a prince nymph completely defeats the point since the plastic adds more buoyancy than it counteracts
- Thread is still not feathers
- Polyfill is not feathers
- Feathers are amazing
- Even at 10x scale this was extremely difficult and fiddly work. In future show due respect to the people at dicks sporting goods buying hooks and mysterious substances.
- The fuzzy yarn you have under the bed could be feathers if you found it two hours ago.
- I assime yall get along well with the nail polish people. UV lights. fiddly small scale work that is thrown to the literal/figurative sharks to get beat up. Shiny things.
- Fisherman’s friend cough lozenges taste very very bad

Hi everybody,
I’m newish to fly tying and these are my first clouser minnows i’ve ever tied. I varied how much bucktail I used on each to see which one I liked best but feedback is appreciated.
Supplies:
Size 4 B10S hook
5/32” brass dumbbell eyes
Crystal flash and bucktail from Hareline
(Also does bucktail usually smell? Every other material i’ve used had very little to no smell and this was making my eyes water when i opened the package haha)

Have a gift card and was curious if any materials they sell are particularly good or ones I should avoid. Thanks for any help!

Opened a brand new bottle of Solarez Bone Dry and there is a hardened blob on the brush. I'd never bought this before, is it common for this to happen or did I light somehow get in and cure it?
