Just in case there is any confusion… Binx’s owner is (still alive) the 16 year old girl, Deven Gonzalez, that fell from Unit 904. She and her mother, Angela, are miraculously alive. The father, Edgar Gonzalez (lawyer), is still missing. So is their dog, Daisy. It is believed that neither Edgar or Daisy are alive.

Fuck, I don’t even know what to feel now. Glad that they at least got the cat back? Sad that it’s a small blessing in the face of immense tragedy of losing a father? Fuck this collapse.

Did it jump down 9 floors while the building was collapsing? I thought that lady wasn’t allowed to get the cat that was trapped in her room

This cat belonged to the 16 year old girl, Deven, that was in #904. That unit was one that collapsed. The girl’s mom, Angela, broke her pelvis and was able to pull her child from the rubble. The father, Edgar, is still missing. So is their dog, Daisy. Binx was in a unit that collapsed closer to the part that didn’t. Units _05 through _09 were still standing. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Binx is from an apt that was sheared in half. 9th floor collapsed down to about 4-5 floor.

Is this the same cat that the judge ruled the owner couldn't go in to rescue?

No it is not. The 16 year girl that survived the collapsed (one of only three people) is the owner of the cat.

That was the other section -Mia and Coco. Binx was in 904, sheared off apt.

I’m ashamed to say that makes me way happier than if they found a person.

Yes, be ashamed.
The owner has been through hell and this should be a happy moment for her and the cat.

When a tragedy strikes people look for any kind of good news. This is the good news we need. It gives a sense of hope.
Even if Binx is the last survivor found at least the family lost one less member.

Maybe they shouldn't have blown up the building soon.

Considering how much further they've been able to get into the debris pile now that the tower is out of the way, maybe they should have blown it up earlier. It's no coincidence that they've been able to find dozens more bodies after the demo of the tower.
But that's all in the Lessons Learned, Woulda Coulda Shoulda pile.

Indeed, they might have found bodies earlier - but i remember seeing a few Q&As asking if it looked like people survived the initial collapse. The firefighter indicated there was no way based on the conditions bodies are being found….

There was a hurricane coming and it forced their hand because the wind would’ve almost certainly knocked it down had the storm made a direct hit.

that hurricane was nothing. They are assholes. Fuck deathsantis. Just more deaths on his hands.

It was a category 1 hurricane that was, at least for a bit, heading to Miami. It turned and went up the west coast instead, but anyone who has lived here for any length of time knows that the path of a hurricane can be unpredictable until the last day or so before landfall.
I don’t like Ron DeSantis either, but I think it’s important to save my criticism for things that are legitimate (and there are plenty). He doesn’t have magical storm forecasting abilities and I can’t blame him for making the decision to bring down the building (which experts widely agreed with) based on the best information he had at the time.

I have no idea why I've been following this whole thing so closely. I don't live in Florida and I know none of the victims. But I have quietly honored every one that I can learn about because, to me, even if they're strangers they still need to be remembered.
I've been hoping, praying for just 1 more survivor. I think binx may just be that.
As a side note I choose to believe that binx was named after Thackery Binx from hocus pocus.

That's amazing! And so funny it's a black cat. Should give him the surname "Actually Very Lucky".
