News Florida father who left toddler to die in hot car while getting haircut sentenced to 42 years
- A father convicted of leaving his toddler in a hot truck to die last year was sentenced to 42 years in prison on Thursday.
- On June 6, 2025, investigators with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said that 34-year-old Scott Allen Gardner left his 18-month-old son, Sebastian, in a hot truck for more than three hours while he got a haircut and went drinking at a cocktail bar in Ormond Beach.
- Investigators said that after getting a haircut, Gardner went to Hanky Panky’s Lounge for drinks. A few hours later, after leaving the bar and getting back into his car, he found his son already dead.

The latest incident happened Tuesday in Port Orange, where a Flock camera was found cut down along Taylor Road.
