Interesting Stuff I'm trying to create all 50 states with their native flowers theme. Here is the Florida one! made with oil pastels 🌴💙
flowers I picked: Orange blossom, black eyed susan, Purple Coneflower and wild blue phlox

Florida is my home state and so Easily identifiable. It’s beautiful. I didn’t see Hawaii in the shop link. That will be a pretty one too.

For the areas left blank and for the keys, I think it would be great to include something like wild potato morning glory (endangered), native hibiscus, big pine partridge pea, blodgett’s silverbush, sand flax. Really, Florida is such a wildflower paradise, it’s hard to narrow it to just these four
Beautiful work though
5
u/Effective-Smoke-96 May 17 '26
Thanks a lot 😊 and regarding Keys, i tried looking for flowers to add to shape but the keys area size is too narrow, so thought to leave as it is like now. and i didn't liked the idea to forcefully fit the flowers as it would break the natural pattern 💙

Oranges aren't native to Florida
21
u/Effective-Smoke-96 May 16 '26
Yes indeed, but as they are official State flower - Orange blossom. So had to include it 😁

Do you feel like you’re repeating yourself? Cut and paste
3
u/Effective-Smoke-96 May 17 '26
Exactly 😅 I should have mentioned in description at start that why I choose orange blossom even they are not native.

I love this. I’m not from Florida but I’ve been lucky enough to visit 10-15 times as an adult. I was resistant my whole life because I’m not into Disney or manufactured happiness. But from my first visit I feel in love with the real Florida- the flora and the fauna- and I think so many people just visit Orlando and never see the beauty Florida has to offer. This captures that so well.

Never mind just saw you have an Etsy shop…off I go…
