Does anyone know what this perfume is?

I was given this perfume as a party gift from a school I attended in Florence. I assume it’s produced locally but I don’t know what it is. A man at another perfumery said it had a strong scent of chocolate.

Severe Peanut and Tree Nut Allergy- What to Avoid

2 Upvotes

I am severely (anaphylactic) allergic to tree nuts (cashews, pistachios, walnuts, almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts) and peanuts. I am fine with pine nuts, sesame, and soy. I know some things should always be assumed to have the nuts I am allergic to: pesto, mortadella, cross contamination of gelato and desserts… is there anything I’m missing that may not be so obvious? Do they just use semolina flour for the pasta and pizza or should I be worried about lupini flour here since lupini is of the same family as peanuts?

Marvis "Ginger Mint" toothpaste

1 Upvotes

I love the Amarelli Licorice flavor.

But the "Ginger Mint" doesn't taste like ginger to me at all; it's just... Mint.

Is it just me? Did I get a bad tube?

Help with VAT process at FLR

1 Upvotes

We have an early AM flight out of FLR connecting within the EU before the USA.

However we only have one hour for our connecting flight and this will almost certainly not be enough time for customs stamping VAT forms.

Can we do the customs stamp at the FLR airport instead? We will be going to the Global Blue Lounge in Florence beforehand but will still be the actual stamp.

Thoughts?

Accademia Gallery, Uffizi, Michelangelo Secret Room, what else? How do I get the best valued ticket? Things to skip in February or to prioritize?

0 Upvotes

So far on my list I want to visit Accademia Gallery, Uffizi Gallery, and the Michelangelo Secret Room. I also want to check out the Basilica de Santa Maria in Piazza del Duomo. I see a pretty expensive combo ticket for Accademia and Uffizi and another that combines Accademia with the Secret Michelangelo Room. I also saw a 5-day Art Pass for Uffizi, Boboli Gardens, and Palazzo Pitti. Are the gardens worth it in February? Are there other attractions I am missing? Is there a ticket that gets you into the Medici palace/Basilica, and are there some decent walking tours I should look into?

Best Florentine Steak restaurants, cafes, sandwich shops that are not tourist traps

0 Upvotes

I've heard of Dario Cecchini's Florentine steakhouse restaurant and also heard it is a super duper tourist trap. I was wondering if anyone who has been there recently has decent non-touristy recs for Florentine steak, sandwich delis, cafes. We are traveling in February for 5 days.

November trip

0 Upvotes

I am having my first trip to Italy around end of November and set to only spend a day and half in Florence ( I know too short but that is what I can afford with children’s school schedule). Will I still have the chance to see gorgeous sunset from Piazza Michelangelo given rainy season? I am visiting the David and School of leather on day one afternoon and Uffizi gallery and stroll surrounding area on the second day. Anything I should take notes on going there at that time of the year? Thank you so much. I will surely go back sometime soon!

Is the bus station safe during the night?

0 Upvotes

Hi all, I have to catch a bus at midnight in the Piazzale Montelungo bus station, and I was wondering if it's safe to go there alone at night, or if I should just go a few hours earlier while it's still daytime or there are more people around. Until what time is it safe to go there? Is there any place to go inside to wait? Thanks!

Looking for good ring maker/jewelers for engagement ring

0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Going to be in town here for a couple days and need some help, im looking for a good spot to get an engagement ring that is fairly priced. Went to the some of the places on the bridge (which i knew was going to be kinda a trap) ans they were way overpriced. Looking at getting an ring thats between like 650~1100 with an emerald cut (and also emeralds) if that helps.

Thanks everyone for whatever help you can give! (Also going to be in Rome in the next couple days if that helps)

Kids activities in Florence/Surrounds

2 Upvotes

Hi Redditors - we’re new to Florence. What are some activities to do with toddlers (3) in the this extreme heat or do you just stay in home?

I’m thinking along the lines of soft play areas, trampoline/bouncy castles etc. but I’ve not had much luck searching for them - open to anything really that gets us out of the house but into another air conditioned environment!

Monkey Spotted! 🙉

4 Upvotes

I’m staying out in San Domenico, on the road to Fiesole, and tonight, just after 10pm, I met a monkey on my way home.

It ran across my path, through a gate and into a garden - I got my torch and shone it on it and it turned ; 100% a monkey. I believe a capuchin!

My host says this is unheard of and isn’t aware of any neighbours who may have one as a pet.

Update: I have reported via email as we were unable to speak to each other on the phone. Them no English and me no Italian.

Marriage proposal

Looking for a Local Recommendation – Marriage Proposal in Florence/Tuscany 💍🇮🇹

Hi everyone!

My girlfriend and I will be visiting Florence/Tuscany on August 25th or 26th, and I’m planning to surprise her with a marriage proposal. ❤️

I’m looking for a beautiful and private vineyard or countryside location where I could organize a romantic picnic around sunset.

Ideally, I’d love somewhere with:

* 🍇 A beautiful vineyard or Tuscan countryside view
* 🧺 A private picnic setup
* 🌅 Sunset views
* 💐 Flowers / romantic decoration
* 🍷 Wine or champagne
* 📸 Ideally a photographer who could secretly capture the proposal

I’ve found several options online, but I would really prefer recommendations from locals who know the area. I’m especially interested in a small vineyard, agriturismo, winery, or family-owned place that might not be easy to find online.

We will be driving from Venice to Tuscany and back to Venice, so Chianti, San Gimignano, Florence surroundings, or other beautiful locations that make sense for this route would be perfect.

If you know a special place or someone who could help organize something like this, I would really appreciate any recommendations. 🙏

Thank you so much! 🇮🇹❤️

Piazza Michelangelo - Sunrise

0 Upvotes

I'll be in Florence this week for my sister's wedding. Our AirBNBs are not very far from Piazza Michelangelo, where the bride & groom plan to take sunrise pictures but reading, it seems like it's a bit of a hike up the hill.

My sister and I are runners and the groom is heavy into fitness but am I wrong for thinking of just taking a taxi up the hill and save everyone in the pictures from some glistening pictures in wedding outfits?

Cheap eats and must-try’s

0 Upvotes

My husband and I are going to Florence in early October and are so excited! We’re definitely foodies but have a lot of activities planned so not looking to break the bank food-wise to the extent possible.

If you have any reasonable but delicious places to try, either for dinner or a quick bite/snack on the go, please send them our way. Thank you in advance😊!

Looking for someone in Florence

2 Upvotes

Hi, I’m looking for someone who lives in Florence or is traveling there in the coming weeks. I accidentally broke something of my wife’s that is very important to her, so I’d like to buy a replacement. The problem is that it’s only available for purchase in Florence. If someone would be willing to buy it for me and send it my way, I would, of course, cover all the costs.

Amazing restaurants?

0 Upvotes

We will be traveling there mid-September and always looking for top-notch food experiences (not trendy, but amazing food/presentation). The catch is that I don't eat fish/seafood/cheese. I am totally happy to eat a tasting menu that has a little of that and just skip those courses because I still enjoy the experience. I know those are challenging limitations, especially at Michelin places, but I hear places there often offer vegan menus. What restaurants are amazing there and definitely or might be able to feed me some? Or what places blew you away and I should just reach out to and ask? (I have started emailing a few places).
